Chapter 608
โMr. Turnerโs condition is looking pretty good. Maybe itโs because of his mindset, but right now, the cancer cells are under control,โ the doctor said.
Bowen was at his familyโs estate, listening to the doctor give an update on Enriqueโs health, when he received the message from Kelvin.
He couldnโt help but think about the rumors online claiming he had an affair with an intern. Most people would be worried in a situation like this, but Bowen felt at ease, knowing that Aubree wasnโt the type to fall for mere gossip.
โLet her handle it her way. Just make sure nobody gives her any trouble,โ Bowen said.
Kelvinโs expression was a mix of confusion and surprise at Bowenโs calmness. He thought, โWho would dare to bully Miss Miller? If the CEO himself is not planning to intervene, why should I, as an assistant, get involved?โ
As such, he remained in his office, not moving an inch.
Meanwhile, Aubree followed the friendly receptionistโs instructions and headed straight to the 35th floor.
The CEOโs office was hard to missโit was right by the elevator with transparent glass walls. Standing outside, Aubree could see everything that was going on inside.
She caught the attention of someone just about to leave.
News of her coming to Turner Group had spread quickly, and even though it looked like everyone inside was busy, their eyes were focused on her.
After all, what could be more interesting than the real girlfriend showing up to confront someone else?
โMiss Miller, did you need something?โ the person she stopped asked, looking unusually excited.
Aubree smiled and asked, โIs there someone named Jacinta in the CEOโs office?โ
โYes, Jacinta was just in there a moment ago, helping Mr. Turner with some papers. She should still be in his office,โ the employee replied.
Aubree thought, โHelping Bowen with paperwork? He does not leave important documents in his office. Besides, thatโs usually Kelvinโs role, isnโt it?โ
โDoes she visit Mr. Turnerโs office often?โ Aubree inquired.
The employee hesitated for a second, then replied, โIโm not sure if Iโd say โoften,โ but she goes there quite a bit. She always says sheโs helping him with something or just dropping off files.โ
Upon hearing that, Aubree smiled and said, โThanks!โ
Just as she was about to walk away, the employee mentioned, โOh, by the way, Mr. Turner isnโt in the office today.โ
Aubree had no clueโshe wasnโt the kind of girlfriend who checked in with Bowen constantly.
After thanking him again, Aubree made her way straight toward Bowenโs office.
His office was on the top floor, occupying the prime spot in the entire building.
The lock on Bowenโs office door had Aubreeโs fingerprint registered, so she simply swiped her finger and walked right in. Inside, a casually dressed woman spun around, clearly startled.
When she saw Aubree, she let out a sigh of relief and patted her chest, โOh, itโs you, Miss Miller. For a second there, I thought someone was breaking into Mr. Turnerโs office.โ
Aubree studied the woman. She didnโt recognize her, but there was something oddly familiar about her. She asked, โAre you Jacinta?โ
โYes, I am,โ Jacinta replied with a bright smile.
That strange sense of familiarity grew even stronger. โHave I never seen her before?โ Aubree wondered.
โMiss Miller, are you here to see Mr. Turner? Unfortunately, heโs not in today. Do you want to wait for him? If you are, he probably wonโt be coming in at all. Mr. Enrique is sick, so Mr. Turner hasnโt been around much latelyโtoday included. But if youโd like to wait, feel free to have a seat. Iโll get you some water. What would you like to drink?โ Jacinta asked.
Aubree found herself chuckling silently, โShe sure acts like she owns this place.โ
