Rebirth of a Flopped Actress: Career First, Love Second

Chapter 136: I Am the Only One Reborn

Unlike her simple look from earlier, Olivia stepped out of the dressing room in a silver tasseled strapless dress paired with silver heels. Her previously straight black hair was now styled into soft, elegant waves that draped over her pale shoulders.

In the earlier scene, Olivia had been pure and beautiful, like a lily hidden in the depths of a valley, untouched and untainted. But now, she had transformed into an enchanting siren of the bar. As she moved, the silver tassels on her dress shimmered under the lights, exuding a captivating brilliance. Her makeup was light yet perfectly executed; subtle eyeliner lifted the corners of her clear eyes, adding an irresistible allure to her innocence.

One look, and Chris was utterly stunned. The girl before him looked like a born enchantress, her mere glance seeming to draw souls to her. She's too beautiful! I've never seen a woman as stunning as this! Who is she? Where's Olivia?

It wasn’t just Chris; everyone on set was mesmerized by Olivia’s transformation. Especially the crew who had worked on her earlier scene. Just moments ago, Olivia had been the shy, awkward girl from the countryside, but now, with a change of costume, she seemed like a completely different person. Though it was the same face, it gave off an entirely different vibe.

Amelia clenched her fists tightly by her sides as soon as Olivia appeared. The murmurs of admiration around her felt like daggers piercing her heart. It’s out in the open now! Olivia’s beauty can’t be hidden anymore!

Ever since Olivia was brought back into the Carter family, Amelia had been shaken by her stunning looks. When she learned Olivia was entering the entertainment industry, she felt an unprecedented sense of crisis. Amelia had always been considered a beauty, receiving countless advantages because of her face. But realizing that Olivia’s beauty surpassed hers made her understand one thing: she had to destroy that face. But now…it was clear her efforts had failed.

“Olivia, this is Chris, your co-star for the next scene. You’ve both memorized your lines, right?” Jos asked, his eyes filled with satisfaction at Olivia’s appearance. She was alluring without being vulgar, delicate yet striking.

Hearing Jos’s words, Chris froze. “She… she’s Olivia?” He stared at her in disbelief, unable to connect this ethereal beauty with the over-the-top, garish version of Olivia from Sweetheart Forevermore.

“Obviously,” Jos replied, giving Chris a look.

Chris gawked at Olivia, struggling to process what he was seeing. Finally, he muttered, “Your agent must really hate you.”

Olivia thought to herself, Are you reborn too?

Chris continued, “If they didn’t hate you, why would they style you so poorly before? Were they blind?”

Olivia stayed silent, thinking, Fine, I guess I’m the only one who’s been reborn.

Jos urged them to start filming. The scene involved Penelope, three months into her city life, being persuaded by friends to visit a bar in search of a wealthy benefactor.

In her previous life, Olivia had been kicked off the set by Jos after a disastrous performance in her first scene. She was only allowed back days later to shoot this scene with Chris. Chris’s acting was mediocre, but compared to Olivia, who had been constantly undermined by Daniel, he was slightly better. During their shared scenes, Olivia had made mistake after mistake, prompting Chris to outright demand that the director replace her on the spot.

As memories of her past life surfaced, Olivia stepped toward the camera. Her peripheral vision caught sight of Amelia standing nearby. So, my “caring” little sister, Amelia, you’ve finally shown up.
