Chapter 135: Sheโs Destined to Be a Star
Even Daisy, who had always looked down on Olivia, couldnโt hide her astonishment after seeing Oliviaโs performance.
Pointing at the screen showing Olivia, Jos continued, โThis girl has natural talent. I canโt figure out what her manager was doing before, dressing her up so tackily. If she can maintain this level of acting, thereโs no reason she wonโt make it big. Amelia, I suppose you saw her potential. Thatโs why you recommended her, right?โ
Amelia suppressed the rage building inside her and maintained a gentle smile. โYes, Iโve always thoughtโฆ she had a lot of potential.โ She needed to find Daniel and get to the bottom of this. Why did Olivia show up bare-faced today? And how did her acting suddenly improve so much?
Jos resumed filming Willowโs scenes, but the results were disastrous. After two catastrophic takes, Jos was livid. โUse your brain for once! Weโre done filming your scenes for today. If you canโt figure it out, stop wasting everyoneโs time!โ
Willow was in tears, her makeup streaked and ruined.
Rubbing his temples in frustration, Jos turned to his assistant. โGo check if Olivia is ready. Weโll shoot her bar scene with Chris next.โ
The assistant hesitated. โBut Chris just arrived. Heโs still getting his makeup done. It might take a while.โ
Chris, a newcomer backed by the investors, was playing the second male lead, a wealthy benefactor of Oliviaโs character, Penelope. Handsome and popular, his presence in the cast was largely thanks to his connections.
โTell him to hurry up!โ Jos snapped impatiently.
Amelia stood by with mixed emotions, her mind spinning with too many unanswered questions. But with so many eyes on her, she could only maintain her composed smile.
Soon, Chris emerged from the makeup room, dressed in a casual suit that accentuated his youthful charm. With his confident stride and dashing looks, he immediately commanded attention. The assistant quickly ran off to call Olivia to set.
Spotting Jos, Chris greeted him with a casual smile. Given his backing by the investors, his status on set was unshakable.
โMs. Amelia, youโre here too?โ Chrisโs gaze fell on Amelia, and he walked over with a grin.
At twenty-two, Chris was at the cusp of youth and maturity, his face exuding both youthful energy and a refined handsomeness.
Amelia, aware of the powerful backing behind Chris, greeted him with a polite smile. โYes, Iโm here to reshoot a few scenes.โ
Chrisโs eyes lingered briefly on Amelia before he couldnโt help but admire her beauty. Even in an industry brimming with stunning faces, Ameliaโs looks were exceptional. โI heard Olivia was recommended by you?โ
Amelia nodded.
Chris sighed. โThatโs generous of you, but sometimes good intentions can cause problems. Bringing someone like her into a role with so many scenes opposite me isโฆ frustrating.โ
Chris hadnโt met Olivia yet, as he arrived after Amelia.
โI looked up some of her previous work,โ Chris continued, shaking his head. โIt was honestly unbearable. But since you recommended her, Iโll try my best to guide her through the scenes.โ
Daisy, standing to the side, rolled her eyes slightly at Chrisโs pompous attitude and whispered to Amelia, โHis acting isnโt great either. If it werenโt for the investors pushing him, thereโs no way heโd land the second male lead. But considering the power behind him, we have to keep things amicable. The entertainment industry is full of people like Chris; theyโre handsome but lacking substance.โ
Amelia gave a slight nod and replied to Chris with a polite smile. โIโll leave it to you, then.โ
As the two exchanged pleasantries, Olivia walked out onto the set.
Chris, still brooding over having to work with an assumed โamateur,โ turned his head nonchalantly to finally get a look at Olivia. The moment his eyes landed on her, however, he froze in place.
