Rebirth of a Flopped Actress: Career First, Love Second
Chapter 145: Woman, Youโre Playing with Fire
Georgina was on the brink of losing her temper. โMs. Carter, youโve misunderstood. Iโm not short on money.โ
As soon as she finished speaking, Olivia gave her a sympathetic pat on the shoulder. โI get it. Iโm just like you. When I was young, my parents left me in the countryside, and only my grandma looked after me.โ
Georginaโs expression nearly collapsed. Whoโs like you?
Fighting to maintain her composure, Georgina eyed Oliviaโs plain attire. Her irritation fueled her determination to regain the upper hand. Her gaze shifted to the clothing display inside the JN store. Although JN focused primarily on jewelry, Georgina had also ventured into fashion design, with many luxury gowns in the store being her creations.
From the first moment she met Olivia, Georgina noticed her preference for simple T-shirts and jeans, always radiating a sense of mediocrity. An idea took shape in Georginaโs mind. Smiling sweetly, she said, โMs. Carter, since itโs rare for you to visit, and since I recently returned with a few gowns designed myself, why not try one on? You have a lovely figure; youโd make a great model.โ
Oliviaโs figure was slim, but Georgina believed her lack of sophistication would ruin the elegance of any gown. The contrast between Oliviaโs demeanor and a luxurious dress would be disastrous. Georgina wanted Alexander to see that Olivia, despite marrying into wealth, would never fit the role of the Wilson familyโs matriarch.
โSure,โ Olivia replied with a cheerful smile.
Georgina quickly instructed her staff to bring a gown to the fitting room, and Olivia stepped inside to change. Georgina waited patiently, anticipating the embarrassment Olivia would face. To her surprise, Olivia soon stuck her head out from the fitting room.
โMs. Carter, is the gown not fitting well?โ Georgina asked, her smile polite but expectant.
Olivia shook her head lightly. โI canโt get the zipper up in the back.โ
Georginaโs smile deepened. All of her gowns were tailored to the measurements of international models, designed with no tolerance for extra weight. โOh, dear. If it doesnโt fitโฆโ
Before Georgina could finish, Olivia looked directly at Alexander. โHoney, could you come in and help me with the zipper?โ
Georgina was stunned.
Alexander raised an eyebrow, glancing at Olivia with mild curiosity. Without a word, he walked into the fitting room.
Watching him enter, Georgina could feel the blood surging in her veins. The mere thought of Alexander and Olivia together in the confined fitting room was enough to make her grind her teeth.
Inside the fitting room, Alexander quickly realized that Olivia had already zipped up the gown perfectly. It was snug, with no indication of her needing help.
Olivia, unaware of the dangerous aura he was emitting, remained facing away from him and waved her hand nonchalantly. โThatโs it, you can leave now.โ
Alexanderโs gaze darkened, and a dangerous chill flickered in his eyes as he stared at the zipper on her back. Without warning, he lifted his arm, bracing it against the wall of the fitting room, effectively trapping Olivia between him and the wall.
Startled, Olivia froze and was about to turn around when Alexanderโs deep voice came from behind her. โDonโt move.โ
She remained silent, the warmth of his breath brushing against her neck with each exhale.
Alexanderโs piercing gaze swept over the back of her neck before his long fingers reached for the zipper. With a swift motion, the zipper slid down effortlessly.
โZip!โ The sharp sound of the gown unzipping filled the small fitting room, leaving Olivia stunned in place.
