Chapter 144: Who Needs Olivia to Support Her Business?
If not for Alexanderโs presence, Georginaโs face would have darkened completely. Alexander willingly accompanying Olivia shopping? What a joke!
Georginaโs expression stiffened slightly, but she quickly masked it by recommending a few pieces of her own jewelry designs to Olivia. โThese are some of my latest creations, including one that won first place in this yearโs Falcrest Jewelry Design Competition,โ she said, and tried to calm herself. Thereโs no way Alexander could genuinely like someone as useless and unattractive as Olivia.
Olivia took a look at the pieces. She had to admit, Georginaโs designs were impressive, and the jewelry was undeniably exquisite.
Georginaโs eyes flicked toward Alexander before she held up the award-winning necklace. โThis pearl necklace might not feature any top-tier gemstones, but itโs my personal favorite,โ she said with a meaningful smile.
She turned her attention to Alexander and asked, โAlex, do you know why I chose pearls as the main material?โ
Alexander didnโt respond. Jewelry didnโt interest him at all.
Georgina glanced at Olivia before letting her gaze linger on the necklace. โBecause the first gift you ever gave me was a pearl hairclip,โ she said softly, as though lost in nostalgia.
It was a story meant to evoke memories, but Olivia could sense the words were deliberately aimed at her. โI still remember that year. It was my tenth birthday. It was the first time I celebrated outside my home, at the Wilson Mansion. There were no parents, no relativesโฆโ
Georgina lifted her gaze to Alexander, her eyes brimming with fond remembrance. โThat day, you gave me a pearl hairclip. It made me feel that even in the Wilson family, I wasnโt entirely alone.โ
With a gentle smile, Georgina continued, โI transformed our shared memories into new creations. Jewelry with a soul; those are the most touching and meaningful pieces.โ
Olivia quietly observed Georgina indulging in her own sentimentality, then shifted her focus to Alexander. In her past life, Olivia had been so consumed by jealousy at Georginaโs words that she never noticed Alexanderโs expression. But now, it was impossible not to see the stark contrast: Georginaโs face was full of emotion, while Alexanderโs remained completely indifferent. The disparity wasโฆ intriguing.
โHoney, why donโt you buy me this necklace?โ Olivia suddenly suggested.
Georgina cast Olivia a quick glance, a cold smirk forming in her mind. Still canโt stand hearing about our shared past, can you?
โHmm?โ Alexander looked at Olivia, raising an eyebrow. He didnโt think she was particularly drawn to this necklace.
Olivia glanced briefly at Georgina and sighed dramatically. โI never realized Ms. Georgina had such a difficult childhood. Since this necklace is her award-winning design, it must be the most expensive piece here, right? Didnโt I say Iโd support Ms. Georginaโs business? Of course, I should choose the most expensive one.โ
Georgina froze, utterly stunned. Oliviaโs interpretation of her words had taken an unexpected turn. Had she inadvertently created a situation where Georgina seemed destitute and in need of Oliviaโs charity?
Without hesitation, Alexander gestured for Henry to pay. Shopping with women was not his forte, and this was certainly a first for him.
Georginaโs lips twitched. Who asked Olivia to support my business? Iโm wealthy enough! Does this woman even understand the implications of what I said?
After the purchase was made, Olivia turned to Georgina with a sincere expression. โMs. Georgina, if you ever face any challenges, feel free to let me know. I certainly wouldnโt be as stingy as my husband, giving just a hairclip as a gift.โ
