Chapter 148: Went Too Far
Was Mr. Wilson planning to take Olivia to the Devinly Hotel for a romantic Valentineโs Day date? Even Henry was startled by his own assumptions. Georginaโs expression, however, froze almost instantly. Even though she wasnโt in the country often, she had certainly heard of the Devinly Hotel and its reputation for being the ultimate destination for romantic escapades.
Olivia, who initially intended only to irritate Georgina and force Alexander into agreeing to spend Valentineโs Day with her, found herself momentarily stunned when Alexander instructed Henry to book a private suite at the Devinly Hotel. What was going on? Wasnโt Alexander supposed to hate her?
If she had pressured him, he could have just reluctantly agreed. Why would he go so far as booking a luxurious hotel? What was he planning? For the first time, Olivia felt a hint of unease. This didnโt align with Alexanderโs usual behavior at all. He was definitely acting weird today!
She unconsciously loosened her grip on Alexanderโs arm. Could it beโฆ that sheโd gone too far lately? Was Alexander planning to lure her into the suite to teach her a lesson?
Alexander caught the flicker of surprise on Oliviaโs face, and a glint of amusement passed through his deep eyes. If this were the past, she would have jumped at the chance without hesitation. But now, her subtle expressions and recent shift in attitude toward him intrigued Alexander. Olivia didnโt seem to love him as much as she used to.
Meanwhile, Olivia was feeling like she might have pushed her game a bit too far. But with Georgina standing right there, there was no way she could back down now.
โHubby, youโre just the best. Iโm soโฆ thrilled.โ Olivia forced herself to maintain her cheerful demeanor as she clung to Alexanderโs arm, playing the part of the affectionate wife.
Ignoring Georginaโs visibly stiff smile, Alexander glanced down at Olivia, whose forced joy was evident, and his lips curled into a faint smirk. Thrilled? She was such a cunning little fox.
With Alexander throwing her off balance, Olivia lost all motivation to keep provoking Georgina. As soon as they exited JN Jewelry Store, she found an excuse to slip away.
Watching Oliviaโs โretreat,โ Alexander narrowed his eyes slightly, a thoughtful and almost amused expression tugging at his lips.
โMr. Wilsonโฆ. should I go ahead and book the suite at the Devinly Hotel now?โ Henry asked, his emotions aโฆ
โYes,โ Alexander responded without hesitation. Henry glanced at his boss, his confusion deepening.
Alexander had never been the type to entertain Olivia romantically. In fact, outside of family gatherings at the Wilson estate, the number of times theyโd eaten at the same table could be counted on one hand.
โAny specific requirements for the suite?โ Henry inquired cautiously.
Alexander recalled the flicker of surprise and unease on Oliviaโs face earlier and raised an eyebrow slightly. โTell them to reserve the best suite available.โ
Henry was dumbfounded. Devinly Hotel was renowned for its romantic ambiance, and the higher-tier suites were specifically designed to be even more extravagant and intimate. What in the world was happening today?
Olivia hurried away, still unable to figure out Alexanderโs bizarre behavior. โIs he really planning to beat me up?โ she muttered to herself in the car, her mind involuntarily weighing the odds of her winning in a physical confrontation against Alexander.
As she mulled over the absurd possibility of a showdown, her phone rang abruptly. The caller was Daniel. Olivia answered, and Danielโs voice came through immediately.
โOlivia, get to the office right now. Based on your recent performance, the company has decided to assign you a new agent.โ
Without waiting for a response, Daniel hung up. A new agent? Olivia arched an eyebrow as she stared at her phone. In her previous life, she did get a new agent, but that didnโt happen until a year later. Why was it happening so soon this time?
