Chapter 163: Adding Fuel to the Fire
“Lack creativity.” Jared was stunned, wondering if Olivia’s mind had crumbled under the insults. He lowered his head to read a comment on his tablet.
“Am I the only one who thinks this stupid washed-up has-been is shamelessly riding on Amelia’s fame? Where did this btch come from? Seriously, fck you…”
Was Olivia focusing on something else? While Jared was still in disbelief, he suddenly noticed Olivia had replied to that comment. Her reply read, “Yes, you’re the only one. Feeling sad about realizing you’re all alone?”
Jared stared wide-eyed at Olivia’s response. Most celebrities would choose to lie low when faced with online hate. But… Olivia decided to strike back? He felt like weeping for Olivia’s bravery! “Olivia, stop it! You’re just going to make them attack you even more!”
“Okay, I won’t reply anymore and head to sleep first,” Olivia said casually, as if she had just picked a random lucky winner from the comments.
To her, this was just a minor setback. Besides, she could understand why the novel fans were so resistant to her. After all, she did have plenty of dirt in her past. After hanging up the phone, Olivia went straight to sleep.
On the other hand, Jared was troubled. The comments section had become even more explosive after Olivia’s reply. Seeing that Olivia was on the verge of becoming a trending topic for all the wrong reasons, he hurriedly made a call to Daniel. “Daniel, did you see what’s happening on Twitter? Can the company hire damage control? Olivia’s been doing really well in Mr. Jos’s movie. He even increased her scenes today…”
Daniel’s impatient voice quickly interrupted Jared, “Jared, don’t forget you’re Olivia’s manager now. If she’s in trouble, why are you calling me? Can’t you handle it yourself? Don’t bother me again!”
He then hung up the phone. Of course, he knew Olivia was in trouble. He was well aware that Amelia was targeting Olivia, which is why he dumped this mess onto Jared.
Jared stared at his phone for a long moment before realizing what had happened. Wasting no time, he pulled up his contacts list and started calling other departments in the company. The responses he received were…
“What’s so special about Olivia? Why do you want us to help her with damage control? Why don’t you ask the boss if he approves of it?”
“Are you kidding? A D-list celebrity wants to use the company resources?”
“Are you out of your mind? You’re just an intern. Solve it yourselves.”
After making over a dozen calls, Jared was at a complete loss. No one in the company was willing to help and even tried to kick them while they were down. Why was this happening? Having just entered the workforce, Jared was utterly confused. Olivia was also working for the company. Why would they ignore her plight entirely?
