Chapter 17: Donโt You Dare to Move
James sneered, blocking Oliviaโs path. โYouโre not leaving this school unless you give me that car!โ He stood there, confident Olivia wouldnโt dare challenge him. If she so much as touched him, their parents would skin her alive.
But Oliviaโs response was far from what James expected. She rolled down the window, a wicked smile playing on her lips. โJames.โ
James raised his chin arrogantly. He knew itโOlivia was too much of a coward to stand up to him.
But Oliviaโs next words left James dumbfounded. โIf you move even a little, youโre nothing but a dog.โ
James hadnโt fully grasped what Olivia meant before she revved the engine. The carโs rear wheels spun rapidly, white smoke rising from the friction, and the roar of the engine sounded like a beastโs growl.
The sound sent a shiver down Jamesโs spine. His eyes widened, disbelief written all over his face. Olivia wouldnโt really run him over, would she?
โIf I move, Iโm your son! You donโt have the guts to hit me!โ James spat, still trying to sound tough.
Oliviaโs smile deepened. โJames, you better not move.โ
She released the brake slightly, and in the next instant, the red LaFerrari shot forward like a wild beast unleashed! James, who had been standing right in front of the car, was slammed onto the hood by the sudden force.
The carโs speed increased rapidly, and James felt as if Deathโs scythe was hanging over his neck. His survival instincts kicked in, and he clung desperately to the sides of the hood, barely avoiding being flung off immediately.
Gone was the smug, arrogant expression from Jamesโs face. Now, it was replaced by sheer terror. Sweat poured from his forehead, the wind tearing at his face as if it would rip his skin off.
Inside the car, Olivia watched Jamesโs helpless struggle, a cold smile curling her lips. What a shame, if only he had stood a little farther awayโฆ He mightโve died right then and there.
โDamn you, Olivia!โ James cursed in panic, but the moment he opened his mouth, the wind whipped into his throat, choking him so hard he couldnโt even keep his eyes open.
That wench was trying to kill him!
As they approached a turn, Olivia executed a sharp drift. The force of the maneuver sent James flying off the hood. The pampered rich kid crashed onto the ground, his face slamming into the dirt, instantly knocking out two of his front teeth.
James lay on the ground, trembling with pain, his mouth full of blood and dirt as he struggled to push himself up. Olivia glanced at his pathetic state through the rearview mirror, a smirk of disdain on her face. Pathetic. There would be more chances. Next time, he might not be so lucky.
The next day, which was a Saturday, Isabella arrived at Starlight Mall early, just as Olivia had asked. Starlight Mall was the most expensive shopping district in Myranthia, where even a casual purchase could bankrupt Isabellaโs family. The name โStarlightโ was fitting; this place was as golden as it got.
Isabella had never dared to set foot in such a place before. Just standing in the plaza waiting for Olivia made her feel incredibly uneasy. The glances from the well-dressed passersby made Isabella want to flee.
Just as Isabella was about to bury herself in embarrassment, a familiar, gentle voice pulled her out of her discomfort. โYouโre here early.โ
Isabella looked up, relieved to see Olivia in a simple T-shirt and jeans. โLivi, why did you want to meet here?โ Isabella asked, feeling more at ease now.
Olivia, sucking on a lollipop, handed one to Isabella. โBecause Carlos Harmonies is here.โ
Isabella blinked. โCarlos Harmonies? Isnโt that the most prestigious musical instrument store in the country? Livi, what are we doing there?โ
As someone who had played piano since she was young, Isabella had heard of Carlos Harmonies. The store catered to the countryโs elite, with instruments that cost astronomical amounts. For someone of Isabellaโs background, even walking past the store took courage.
But Olivia simply took Isabellaโs hand, leading her toward Carlos Harmoniesโ entrance. โWeโre buying a piano.โ
