Chapter 18: Even Selling Her House Wouldnโt Be Enough
โB-buy a piano? You want to buy a piano at Carlos Harmonies!โ Isabellaโs heart nearly leaped out of her throat. Did Livi even know how much pianos cost at Carlos Harmonies?
Olivia dragged the visibly anxious Isabella into Carlos Harmonies. The store occupied the entire three floors of a building in the Starlight Mall, a prime location in the expensive district. As soon as Isabella stepped inside, a subtle, pleasant fragrance greeted her. The first-floor showroom was filled with high-end instruments from around the world. The sight of dozens of pianos on display took Isabellaโs breath away.
โG-gorgeousโฆโ Isabella took a deep breath, trying to calm her excitement. Having studied piano since childhood, Isabella was obsessed with the instrument, and these pianos were like something out of her dreams. Since Olivia and Isabella arrived early, they were the first customers of the day.
A man in a black tailcoat approached them, his demeanor exceptionally gentlemanly. โMay I assist you with anything, ladies?โ
Isabellaโs face flushed, and she glanced at the prices of the pianos nearby. Her resolve wavered. โLivi, maybe we should leave. These pianos are too expensive. We should try a rental company instead.โ
The salesmanโs professional smile turned somewhat indifferent at Isabellaโs comment. Carlos Harmonies catered to high-end clients. The staff were astute; they could tell from a glance that these young women didnโt have much money. Their entire outfits probably didnโt cost more than five hundred dollars. Such people were unlikely to afford the storeโs instruments.
โIf youโre looking for rentals, you might be in the wrong place,โ the staff said with noticeable coldness.
Olivia glanced at the indifferent staff member and pulled Isabella further inside. โBella, pick one to look at.โ
The staff member, though disdainful, followed due to store policy. Isabella nervously clung to Oliviaโs hand, her palms sweating, as they kept their distance from the pianos with million-dollar price tags, fearful of accidentally damaging them.
โLiviโฆ Letโs forget it. These pianos are too expensive. Even the one we had at home before was only a few thousand.โ The prices here started at millions, and just renting one for a day was beyond her budget.
โItโs okay. Just take a look,โ Olivia said, scanning the pianos. Her attention was soon caught by a white grand piano, standing out among the black ones. The pure white piano seemed perfect for Isabellaโs soft and cute demeanor.
โTry it out,โ Olivia encouraged.
Isabella was also drawn to the white pianoโs appearance. Despite her best efforts to stay composed, her eyes still sparkled with admiration. She reached out instinctively, but the salesmanโs abrupt cough interrupted her.
โThis piano is a custom model from Piano Echoes,โ the salesman said coldly. Piano Echo was one of the top three piano brands in the world, and custom models were exceptionally pricey. Isabella quickly withdrew her hand, her eyes widening as she saw the price tag.
โThree million, eight hundred thousand?โ Isabella was stunned. Even if she sold her house, she wouldnโt be able to afford it! The staff memberโs impatience grew as he watched Isabellaโs shocked reaction.
