Chapter 172: He Requested Olivia
The wide smile on Willow’s face froze instantly.
“Sorry, what?” Daniel was slightly stunned. “But…didn’t you say that Mr. Tobie wanted a talent from my team?”
Daniel was dumbfounded. After dropping Olivia, he only had Willow left under his charge.
The assistant continued, “That’s true, but Mr. Tobie requested Olivia Carter, not Willow Parker.”
“What? Mr. Tobie wants Olivia for With You, Under The Sky?” Daniel’s eyes widened in disbelief as he looked at Mr. Tobie’s assistant.
Never in Daniel’s wildest expectations had it been that not Willow, but Olivia, had caught Tobie’s eye!
In the blink of an eye, gleeful smirks stretched across the faces of the other agents who had been eyeing Daniel enviously.
Everyone knew that Daniel had recently tossed Olivia over to Jared, as if she were worth nothing.
“Perhaps your team has got it wrong? Olivia’s just a newbie in the industry; how would Mr. Tobie possibly want her?” Daniel said, the corners of his mouth twitching in panic.
Although Olivia was indeed granted more screen time in Mr. Jos’s film, it still had not aired yet!
“Olivia’s popularity is miles lower than Willow’s; maybe your team would like to reconsider?”
The assistant’s face was indifferent as he said, “Mr. Tobie specifically requested Olivia Carter; there is no room for reconsideration.”
Daniel’s expression darkened a little. Why would Mr. Tobie have his eye on her?
Willow, who had been brought into the conference room, could not feel any more embarrassed. She had thought she had been struck by luck, only to find herself in such an awkward situation. She had never caught Mr. Tobie’s attention to begin with!
“Could you please call Ms. Olivia in?” The assistant said in a polite tone.
Daniel’s expression twisted in fury, as if he had just swallowed a lemon. The other agents all came to the disappointing conclusion that they had no part in the matter, but they all found pleasure in seeing the embarrassment Daniel was currently suffering.
Soon enough, someone led Olivia into the conference room.
Olivia stepped into the room and immediately noticed Daniel’s grim, sour expression.
“Ms. Carter, nice to meet you. I’m Mr. Tobie Adcock’s assistant. Mr. Tobie is extending an invitation to you, to play a part in his latest variety show.” The assistant greeted Olivia as soon as she arrived.
At that precise moment, Daniel and Willow both looked at Olivia, their eyes burning with jealousy.
Olivia was taken by surprise.
“You’re talking about With You, Under The Sky?”
The assistant nodded, his expression slightly proud. He was confident that it was impossible for an artiste like Olivia, who had very little popularity, to reject Tobie’s invitation.
However, he was greeted with surprise as Olivia shook her head without even hesitating for a second. “No thanks.”
Olivia’s reply stunned everyone at the scene.
“What, what did you just say?” The assistant was completely taken aback; he never expected that she would reject the offer.
“I’m not interested. If that is all, I’ll be on my way.” After saying that, Olivia was prepared to leave.
Her rejection completely messed up the assistant’s train of thought and even caused the jaws of Daniel and Willow to drop wide open in shock.
“Since Olivia isn’t interested, perhaps Mr. Tobie would be open to another option? Willow here has been gaining quite a lot of popularity lately.” Daniel quickly spoke up.
Olivia’s an idiot for not grasping onto such an incredible opportunity! It’s no surprise she’s still a nobody! At least Willow’s got a chance now!
The assistant’s brows furrowed, and he immediately said to Olivia, “Ms. Carter, is there something you might be unsatisfied about? We are open to negotiations…”
Olivia was just about to open her mouth to set her rejection in stone, but the next words that came from the assistant’s mouth caused her determination to waver.
“Mr. Tobie is offering you a very generous pay this time; perhaps you’d like to know more, Ms. Carter?”
Olivia stopped in her tracks. A very generous pay?
“Let’s hear it then.”
