Chapter 185: Is She Really Going to Fish?

The comment section of the live stream was in chaos, but Olivia and her group calmly finished their meal and packed up. After tidying up, Olivia approached the other contestants to see if anyone wanted to buy anything else. Everyone declined and left. Before heading off, Hudson purchased a bottle of insect repellent.

Six gold bars on the first day weren’t enough to secure first place, but Olivia wasn’t worried. After spraying insect repellent on both her and Harry’s tents, she went to sleep, enjoying a peaceful night.

In contrast, the other three participants faced a miserable night. The insect repellent provided by the production team was stored in heavy glass bottles, and since they assumed the tents in the mountains would suffice, they didn’t bring any. However, the wilderness quickly taught them otherwise as the bugs were relentless!

By morning, it was clear how much they had suffered. “It’s unbearable!” Joycelyn cried, her face swollen with several bug bites, even though she had wrapped herself tightly in her sleeping bag. Shawn and Louis, who had opted to sleep outside their bags because of the heat, were covered in at least a dozen red, itchy welts.

When viewers tuned in that morning, they were greeted with the sight of the trio’s misfortune, and their visual jockeys were in no better shape. “Olivia! I need insect repellent!” Joycelyn yelled as she rushed to Olivia’s campsite, clutching her swollen face. Food was one thing, but seeing her face marred by bug bites was unbearable. This was ruining her image!

With little hope of winning, Joycelyn decided to vent her frustration by splurging. Olivia efficiently handed her a bottle of insect repellent and even threw in a small jar of cooling balm.

“Thank you for shopping!”

Unable to bear the bugs any longer, Shawn and Louis also bought bottles of repellent since they weren’t too expensive. Just then, the production team made an announcement: “There are treasure chests hidden throughout the mountains. Each chest contains skill cards that can help you steal gold bars from others or change the rankings. If you want to protect your gold or take someone else’s, it’s time to act!”

The news instantly energized the group. Until now, they had been hesitant to take each other’s gold bars, but the production team had just given them a way to compete without awkwardness.

Joycelyn, who had been ready to give up, suddenly felt reenergized. After quickly eating a few biscuits, everyone rushed into the forest to search for the skill cards.

Olivia, however, took her time. With Harry trailing behind, she walked leisurely into the woods. Instead of looking for skill cards, Olivia collected wild chili peppers and mushrooms, stuffing them into her bag. She then picked up a long branch and tied her pocketknife to the end.

Thanks to her clever strategy the day before, the production team decided to give her extra screen time today. As the other contestants scoured the forest for skill cards, the camera cut to Olivia. She crouched by a stream, holding her makeshift spear, her gaze fixed on the water where fish swam by.

The comment section of the live stream was curious: “What is Olivia doing? Why isn’t she looking for skill cards?”

“Is she seriously trying to catch fish?”

“Does she think this is a survival show? Catching fish is way harder than it looks.”
