Chapter 186: Olivia Was a Devil
As viewers in the live chat complained about Oliviaโs outrageous ideas, she squinted. With a quick motion, she thrust the handmade spear into the water. In an instant, a large, lively fish was skewered on the tip.
The chat went quiet.
โIโve got no words, justโฆ wow!โ
โPure luck, maybe?โ
Harry, following close behind, froze in disbelief. Her strike was swift and deadly, hitting the fishโs fin with perfect accuracy. The fish squirmed in her grasp. She casually tossed it into her homemade basket and moved forward without hesitation.
Not long after, Olivia speared three or four more fish with the same flawless precision. The chat no longer questioned her skill.
Once the live feed switched to the other contestants, Harry, who had been trailing her for a while, couldnโt stay silent any longer.
โMs. Carter, shouldnโt you consider searching for a skill card? If someone else gets one, your gold bars might be at risk.โ
Olivia replied, โSkill cards are only valid for twenty minutes. To use them, you need to find someone and activate it within ten minutes. Otherwise, they expire, right?โ
Harry was stunned. How did she know that? Was she a psychic? Was she some kind of mind reader? Those conditions werenโt revealed unless you had the card!
โPlus,โ Olivia said, gesturing at her walkie-talkie, โwhen someone finds a skill card, itโs announced.โ
At the start of the show, everyone had received a walkie-talkie. From today, any changes in gold bar counts would also be broadcast.
โAs long as I avoid being found for twenty minutes after someone gets a skill card, they canโt take my gold bars,โ Olivia explained.
Harry breathed a sigh of relief, thankful the live feed wasnโt showing Oliviaโs strategy. Moments later, Oliviaโs walkie-talkie buzzed. Louis had found the first skill card.
Its effect? Steal one-third of the gold bars from the first contestant you see within twenty minutes.
About ten minutes later, the walkie-talkie buzzed with an update on the gold bar counts.
โLouis now has 35 gold bars, Shawn has 14โฆโ
The first unlucky target turned out to be Shawn.
The search and battle for skill cards stretched late into the evening. By the end of it, everyone but Olivia had their gold bar counts changed.
Louis remained securely in the lead with 35 gold bars. Joycelyn, using a skill card that allowed her to swap gold bars with another player, pulled off a shocking turnaround, taking second place with 23 gold bars. Hudson, who ended up as Joycelynโs unlucky trade partner, was left with just one gold bar.
When the contestants finally staggered back to camp, exhausted, they were met with an unexpected sight. Olivia had already prepared a steaming pot of spicy fish stew and another filled with mushroom fish soup.
As the delicious aroma wafted over, Olivia greeted them with a bright smile. โAfter such a long day, why not rest for a bit and enjoy some spicy fish stew and fresh mushroom fish soup?โ
The group froze in disbelief. How had Olivia managed to find fish, chili peppers, and mushrooms?
โItโs a bargain,โ Olivia said, her smile widening. โJust one gold bar.โ
One gold bar for two dishes? That was much cheaper than the steam pots from the day before! Everyone felt Olivia was unusually generous today.
โI canโt take it anymore; Iโll eat.โ Joycelyn, still thrilled by her incredible comeback, couldnโt resist the temptation and handed over a gold bar.
Encouraged by the low price and the appetizing dishes, Louis and Shawn soon followed suit.
โOlivia, arenโt you and Harry going to eat?โ Joycelyn asked, noticing they hadnโt touched the food.
Olivia replied with a pleasant smile, โThis meal is just for you, my honored guests.โ
โOlivia, todayโs price is perfect. Itโd be great if it stayed like this,โ Shawn said.
Olivia chuckled softly but didnโt answer. Harry, however, glanced at the three contestants with a complicated expression as they sat down to eat.
Should I tell them? Oliviaโs no saint! Sheโs definitely up to something. Theyโve fallen right into her trap!
