Chapter 190: The Hunt Begins
Harry had just pointed the camera at the tablecloth when the production team abruptly cut the livestream. The audience was furious. โSeriously? Why cut now?โ
At the same time, the director called Harry. โStay close to Olivia and record everything she does. Weโll need the footage for the final edit.โ The live broadcast wasnโt the only focus; they wanted to save some dramatic reveals for the edited recap.
The final day of the game was now at its most critical stage. With skill cards no longer limited by time, all contestants were in a frenzy to gather as many as possible for a decisive final move.
All morning, the four contestants, excluding Olivia, scoured the mountain tirelessly for skill cards. After a brief lunch break, they dove right back into the hunt. By midday, every last skill card had been claimed.
Louis, holding seven cards, stood confidently before the camera. โOlivia, just wait!โ Shawn, with four cards, and Joycelyn, holding three, were equally determined. Their cards allowed them to swap gold bars, steal half from another contestant, or take a third from two players at once. Fueled by revenge, the three were ready to make their move. Today was their day to settle the score! Their goal was clear: track down Olivia and take her gold bars!
Armed with their skill cards, they launched a full-scale hunt for Olivia across the mountain. They climbed peaks, crossed dense woods, and waded through streamsโฆ Butโฆ โWhereโs Olivia?โ Louis muttered, frustrated after combing nearly the entire mountain. Not even a trace of her could be found.
โThe rules say contestants canโt leave the mountain early, right?โ Louis asked Harry suspiciously. โAbsolutely not,โ Harry confirmed. Louis was puzzled. If Olivia was still on the mountain, where could she possibly be?
Defeated for the moment, the three returned to the campsite to regroup. But when they saw the stack of skill cards each person held, they instantly became cautious of one another.
โDonโt come any closer! Iโve got skill cards too!โ Joycelyn exclaimed, clutching three cards tightly. Louis shook his head. โWhy would I target you? Oliviaโs my target.โ Joycelyn went quiet and added, โSame here.โ โUhโฆ yeah, same,โ Shawn said awkwardly.
The three looked at each other, realizing their shared predicament. Well thenโฆ So weโre all after the same personโฆ.
โI refuse to believe Olivia wonโt return to camp tonight,โ Louis decided, determined to wait for her. โShe canโt possibly stay out in the wilderness all night,โ Joycelyn agreed. โLetโs head to her tent and wait there!โ
The three immediately made their way to Oliviaโs campsite. At the same time, the livestream audience was just as curious about where Olivia had gone. But the production team kept her completely off-screen.
When the trio arrived, they found the area outside Oliviaโs tent covered with food. A tablecloth flapped in the breeze, with a message written on it.
โIโve left, dear customers. Donโt worry about me. Iโve done what I can โ leaving you all the food. No need to thank me; this is my generous contribution. Until we meet again tomorrow morning. Your most devoted vendor, Olivia. Bye!โ
Louis was stunned. Joycelyn stared in shock. Shawn shouted, โWhat is this nonsense?โ โWho cares about the food she left?โ Louis growled in frustration. โShe canโt actually spend the night out here, can she?โ Joycelyn said, clinging to hope.
The three exchanged helpless looks, frustrated. They had scoured the entire mountain earlier and hadnโt seen a trace of Olivia. โWhat choice do we have? We wait,โ Louis concluded, resigned to his plan.
