Chapter 21: The Store Could Be Hers
Just as the staff member was about to carry out Michaelโs orders and throw Olivia and Isabella out, Michael suddenly tightened his grip on the staff memberโs shoulder and pulled him back.
โDid you say that it was that ladyโsorry, I mean that customerโwho handed you this card?โ Michaelโs tone was unexpectedly polite, with a hint of curiosity.
The staff member, taken aback by the sudden shift in Michaelโs demeanor, could only nod blankly.
โAnd what else did she say?โ Michael asked.
โShe said that whether the card could be used for payment or not would be determined by you,โ the staff member relayed, sensing that Michaelโs mood was not quite right.
Michael took a deep breath and waved his hand decisively.
โOf course, it can! She can take whatever she likes! Not just the piano, worth over three million; the entire store is hers if she wants it!โ
Michaelโs words left the staff member stunned.
โMr. Michaelโฆ What does this mean?โ
โThis is a big deal. Youโd better go and give her the best service possible,โ Michael said, giving the staff member a firm push out of the way. A subtle, knowing smile appeared on his face.
The Wilson familyโs black-gold card was even more valuable than any bankโs black card! With this card, not only in the country but even abroad, any reputable store would allow credit. All that was needed was to reconcile with the Wilson family.
โA young woman in her twenties. Could she be Alexanderโs wife?โ Michael pondered, stroking his chin. The Smith family and the Wilson family were close allies, and he and Alexander were good friends. However, he had heard that Alexanderโs wife was quite humble and never spent any of Alexanderโs money. Michael was filled with curiosity, sensing that there might be an interesting story to uncover. He planned to visit the Wilson family later that night.
Back in the store, Olivia remained calm and seated, completely ignoring the scornful looks from Lily and her friends.
โHer face is thicker than a wall, and she has nerves of steel.โ
โItโs not easy for ordinary people to come to a store like this. She probably thinks that if she stays here long enough, she might run into a wealthy patron and become a mistress.โ
โEven if the nouveau riche lacked taste, they still wouldnโt pick her. With her appearance, who would ever consider her?โ
The two girls exchanged barbed comments while Lily checked her watch impatiently. Just then, the staff member rushed back.
โIs the judgment already made? Why are you still here?โ Lily sneered. โDo you think you can afford this piano?โ
Before Lily could finish, the staff member, who had previously been indecisive and erratic, now approached Olivia with a courteous smile.
โI apologize for the inconvenience, Miss. We will prepare this piano for you immediately. Please provide us with your address for delivery.โ
The staff memberโs obsequious attitude and mannerisms shocked everyone present. Even Lily, accustomed to luxury and high society, had never seen a staff member act so servile.
Isabellaโs eyes widened in disbelief, her mouth hanging open. Olivia, seemingly unsurprised, didnโt even glance at the staff member. Instead, she turned to Isabella and said, โGive him your address.โ
Isabella, still in shock, blurted out her home address. But as soon as she finished, she was stunned.
โMy house? Liviโฆ What do you mean?โ
Olivia replied matter-of-factly, โThe piano is bought for you. Where else should it be delivered?โ
Isabella gasped in astonishment, nearly fainting from the shock.
โBought it for me?โ
