Chapter 222: The Ruthless Production Team

Watching Olivia heading toward the team room on the monitor, Tobie kept sighing heavily. Sensing Tobie’s gloomy mood, the staff stood nervously, their legs shaking.

“Is there no other way?” Tobie lamented.

The assistant beside him slowly walked over, cautiously saying, “Well, there might be.”

“What is it? Spill it!”

The assistant glanced at Tobie, then at the rest of the staff. Encouraged by his colleagues’ nods, he bit his lip and whispered a few words into Tobie’s ear. Afterward, he awkwardly added, “This is well… a bit underhanded. What do you think, Director?”

“Underhanded? It was downright ruthless! Perfect! Absolutely perfect! Get on it right now!” Tobie slapped his thigh.

As Olivia reached the door, a staff member dressed in a long robe suddenly approached. “Olivia, there’s been a rule change. You’ll need to go somewhere else tonight and won’t be able to join your teammates just yet.”

Olivia raised an eyebrow slightly. “A rule change?”

The staff member replied, “Let me take you to your rest area for tonight. We’ll explain everything later.”

Although curious about what tricks the production team was up to, Olivia agreed for the sake of “respecting the show.” After all, if the team could switch out a participant at the last minute, what else couldn’t they do?

“Before we go, please put on this blindfold,” the staff member instructed.

Olivia put on the blindfold and let the staff member guide her forward. After walking for a while, Olivia began to hear some strange noises, followed by a loud clang.

“You can take off the blindfold now!” the staff member declared.

When Olivia removed the blindfold, she realized this wasn’t a rest area at all! A large, square iron cage surrounded her completely. Inside the cage was a bed. Next to her cage were two cages of the same size. Olivia was speechless!

Before Olivia could speak, she saw Whitney and Jocelyn also locked in the other two cages, both their faces pale with fear.

“What’s happening?” Joycelyn was dumbfounded. She had been ready to get some rest, only to be locked in a cage midway! What’s the meaning of this?

Once everyone was assembled, the staff member announced the new rules. “On this dark and windy night, the power of the lost souls is at its peak, and the three of you have been captured by them.”

Chapter 222: The Faithless Production Team

Olivia remarked, “You have a really ruthless production team.”

In her past life, Olivia didn’t recall this segment in the show. This was clearly something the production team came up with on a whim.

The staff member ignored Olivia and went on, “Due to the overwhelming power of the lost souls, starting tomorrow, all 15 gold locations will be fully accessible to all three teams. Your teammates can begin their gold hunt at sunrise. They can choose to rescue you or prioritize collecting gold. If two members in a team are captured, all their gold and magic tools will be wiped out, and the team members will be released. By the end of the game, if at least one team member is still captured, their team’s gold will not be counted toward the final score.”

Whitney was left utterly confused after the explanation.

Meanwhile, one of the livestream viewers seemed to have figured something out. “The production team’s so sneaky! Each team originally had five hidden gold locations, but now all locations have been revealed. Doesn’t this just mean the gold is free-for-all now?”
