“No,” Olivia said bluntly, losing interest in the conversation. She turned towards Alexander. “Let’s exchange numbers. Let me know if you ever need help,” she said.

Alexander stayed silent, realizing his cover identity didn’t come with a ready phone number.

Vance immediately noticed the problem. He hadn’t set up a contact number for Alexander’s cover identity.

“Ms. Carter, you might not know, but our newly signed artists can’t contact others privately,” Vance said, coming up with a quick excuse.

Olivia didn’t respond; instead, she took Alexander’s hand and wrote her number on it. When she finished, she rolled her eyes at Vance.

Vance thought, Why am I always the one caught in the crossfire? What did I do wrong?

“I’m leaving now. Let’s talk if you’re free,” Olivia said before walking off with Jared.

Once in the car, Vance dropped his professional mask entirely.

“Alexander! How did I do? Pretty great, right?” Vance said, grinning proudly.

Alexander nodded slightly, his eyes on the number Olivia had written on his hand.

“Get me a new phone,” Alexander said.

Vance immediately pulled out a brand-new phone and an unused SIM card from the car.

“Here, use this for now,” Vance said.

Alexander said nothing, immediately saving Olivia’s contact.

Moments later, she accepted the request. He then received a message from Instant Riches. “Eugene, if your boss ever gives you a hard time, just tell me. I’ll stand up for you.”

Alexander read Olivia’s message, a small smirk forming on his lips. This wasn’t the Olivia he knew; she had shown him two completely different sides.

To Eugene, Olivia seemed bold and righteous, which Alexander found oddly charming. He initially planned to respond with a short “Okay.” But he deleted it and rewrote something more fitting: “m just a newbie. I wouldn’t dare cross my boss.”

On her way back, Olivia glanced at Alexander’s message, which practically screamed helplessness. With a snap, she bit down hard on her lollipop. If she’d taken his protection fee, she had to act. Judging by Eugene’s tone, he was probably stuck under unfair contracts. Not even allowed to exchange numbers? That little rascal Vance, how could he be so domineering?
