Chapter 264: A Performer Worth Praising

Felix’s statement left everyone completely dumbfounded. He added, “Of course, if one of you can beat any one of us, the others won’t have to step up.” His gaze fell straight on Olivia as he spoke. Tobie didn’t dare utter a word.

The other guests were left speechless and in disbelief. Ultimately, they had no choice but to go unless someone miraculously defeated one of Felix’s group, which was practically impossible. Everyone’s eyes simultaneously landed on Louis.

Louis thought, Why are you staring at me? Didn’t I make myself clear earlier?

“Louis, you’re our only shot,” Shawn said, giving him a firm pat on the shoulder. Louis protested silently, “No, I’m not!”

“Louis, if you can endure and win, I’ll hand over my pay for this episode,” Joycelyn said with determination. Louis was nearly in tears. “Joycelyn, I honestly can’t do this…”

“I’ll give you my pay too!” Whitney declared. Even Franklin joined in, standing with Shawn and the others. If Louis could endure, they’d relinquish their entire pay to him.

“Stop joking around! I’m not cut out for this,” Louis exclaimed. “Three moves are already pushing it, let alone winning. How am I supposed to do that?”

He continued, “If any of you think you can manage it, I’ll give you my pay. This isn’t money I can handle earning. Why not ask Olivia? She’s way tougher than me!” He wished he could erase all records of his martial arts background.

While everyone was persuading Louis, Olivia quietly approached Tobie. The anxious Tobie asked, “What’s the matter, Olivia?”

“Mr. Tobie, didn’t our contract state that if any performers were injured during the show, the production team would be held responsible?” Olivia asked. Tobie nodded in distress.

“How many of us do you think will walk away unscathed from this?” Olivia continued. Tobie’s expression grew even more strained.

“The compensation might cost a fortune, right?” Olivia pressed. Tobie almost cried. “If I had known, I wouldn’t have aged. This is a nightmare!”

The ground had sparked some hope. But even though Olivia might last three moves, defeating an instructor was still far-fetched. After all, Jackson, despite his brilliance, was still just a student.

Seeing Tobie’s increasing despair, Olivia decided to make her move. “Mr. Tobie, let’s strike a deal.” Tobie looked at her, intrigued.

“Double my pay for this episode, and I’ll take care of this,” Olivia offered. Tobie’s eyes widened in disbelief. “You… Can you handle it?”

Olivia hesitated. “I’m not entirely confident, but since you’ve been kind to me these past episodes, I want to give it a shot. The pay raise is more for my agency to approve because I’ll be taking a big risk.”

Tobie, who had been upset with Olivia earlier, was now full of gratitude. “Deal! I’ll get the contract ready immediately. Olivia, you’re incredible! Don’t overdo it. Even if you can’t manage it, I’ll never forget your kindness!”

A young woman risking so much for others? What a noble and moving gesture! Tobie instantly erased all his frustrations about Olivia’s past issues. A performer with such dedication deserves all the recognition!
