Rebirth of a Flopped Actress: Career First, Love Second
Chapter 298: Who Really Has the Bad Sleeping Habits?
Olivia stared at Alexander, who was lying on the bed completely at ease. โYouโre sleeping here?โ she asked instinctively.
Alexander raised an eyebrow, his deep gaze settling on her. โIs there a problem?โ
Olivia went silent. Problem? What kind of problem could there be? Alexander had been busy traveling lately and rarely returned to the estate. During that time, Olivia had thoroughly enjoyed her solo nights, relishing the freedom of having the entire bed to herself. But nowโฆ
Alexander had suddenly returned, casually showered, and was lying in the bed as if it were the most natural thing in the world. It left Olivia feeling utterly out of sorts. Since when did he get so bold? In the past, whenever they were alone, he would button his shirt all the way up to his collar. But now, he walked out wearing nothing but a bath towel?
Oliviaโs gaze drifted to the figure on the bed, wrapped only in a towel. Alexanderโs physique was, quite frankly, impeccable. His bronze-toned skin glistened faintly with lingering moisture, and his eight-pack abs were still perfectly defined under the dim light. Add that to his handsome face, and the sheer intensity of masculine energy was almost overwhelming.
Better to keep my distance from this guy, Olivia decided. โIโll go sleep in the guest room,โ she said, turning to leave.
Alexanderโs expression didnโt change, but his eyes swept over her with an amused glint. His gaze seemed to say, You didnโt used to be this reserved.
Feeling the playful intent behind his stare, Olivia rolled her eyes and muttered, โDonโt look at me like that. Iโve turned over a new leaf!โ
Alexander raised an eyebrow slightly.
Olivia continued, โIโm doing this for your sakeโprotecting your reputation.โ After all, he wasnโt interested in her. This suggestion should suit him perfectly. There was no reason for him to refuse.
But just as Olivia was bracing herself for Alexanderโs satisfied agreement, he suddenly said, โI donโt mind.โ
Olivia was speechless. He doesnโt mind? Is this a joke? This was the same man who had resisted even under the influence of drugs, and now he was saying he doesnโt mind? Did someone possess him?
Alexanderโs unexpected response threw Olivia off. She glanced at him, grasping for an excuse. โIโฆ donโt sleep well,โ she said quickly.
Alexander looked at her calmly, his gaze full of understanding and disbelief at her fib. Except for that one night she drank that special concoction, Olivia always slept like a rock.
โIโm a light sleeper. Just donโt disturb me at night,โ he said evenly. With that, Alexander pulled the towel off, slipped under the covers, and closed his eyes, effectively ending the conversation.
Olivia stared at him, dumbfounded. Fine! If weโre sharing the bed, so be it! Iโm not afraid of him!
After finishing her nightly routine, Olivia climbed into bed. Thankfully, the bed was big enough that she could stick to the far edge, leaving enough space between them to fit three people. Lights off, time to sleep.
Oliviaโs thoughts were full of tomorrowโs plan to collect her money, a pleasant vision that lulled her into a sense of satisfaction. But just as she was about to drift off, a warm arm suddenly reached out from behind her, wrapping around her waist and pulling her into a searing embrace.
Olivia was stunned. โAlexander! What are you doing?โ she asked in alarm. But the Alexander behind her seemed deeply asleep, showing no sign of responding. The arm around her waist, however, felt as unyielding as steel, refusing to budge an inch.
Olivia sighed in exasperation. So, whoโs the one with the bad sleeping habits now?
