Chapter 297: Heโs Never Short of Money
Oliviaโs reaction completely caught the Wilson brothers off guard. Alexander, ready to bask in Vanceโs praise for his heroic deed, quickly realized something was amiss. Before anyone could speak, Olivia pointed a finger at Vance and shouted, โWhy on earth did you buy it? Do you have any idea how much money he still owes me? Now that youโve bought the company, how am I supposed to collect that debt?โ
She had already hired a lawyer, prepared the lawsuit, and was ready to take her former boss to court. Then, out of nowhere, Vance decided to drop this surprise on her. Vance was stunned. โUhโฆ wellโฆโ
Olivia narrowed her eyes, glaring between Vance and Alexander. โWho bought it?โ
Alexander casually lowered his newspaper and said, โI told you, you should have consulted her first before doing this.โ With that, he successfully shifted the blame to Vance.
Vance went quiet. โAlexander! My dear brother! How could you do this to me? Youโre the one who led the acquisition team!โ Olivia didnโt think Alexander would do something like this. After all, he rarely paid attention to her affairs. Vance had been trying to recruit her into his company for ages.
โYouโre so dead!โ Olivia yelled, seething with anger. Her lawsuit was ready to go, and now the company owner and legal representative had changed. Who am I supposed to sue now? The former boss had probably already run off with his mistress.
Grabbing Vance by the collar, Olivia shook him violently, making his face flush red. Out of the corner of his eye, Vance glanced at Alexander. Alexander frowned slightly, and a flash of cold intent crossed his gaze. Vance fell silent. Are these two teaming up to torture me?
Olivia didnโt actually strangle him, but the thought of losing millions left her so frustrated she stormed upstairs without eating dinner. Once she was gone, Vance clutched his neck, coughing violently.
โDude, that was lowโฆ really lowโฆโ Alexander calmly set his newspaper aside. โFind out how much the company owes her.โ
Vance asked, โWhat?โ โPay her back,โ Alexander said flatly. Vance was dumbfounded. โButโฆ wasnโt that the scumbag bossโs debt? Why should weโโ Before he could finish, Alexander cut him off. โDraft the agreement, and Iโll transfer the money to you.โ
Vanceโs eyes lit up. โGot it! Iโll handle it first thing tomorrow!โ โDo it now,โ Alexander ordered coldly.
He had noticed Oliviaโs reaction earlier. To someone as money-conscious as her, losing millions was bound to ruin her sleep. Vance groaned but quickly called his assistant, instructing them to draft a contract claiming the original owner of the company had left funds to settle Oliviaโs debt as part of the acquisition.
When Alexander returned to the bedroom, Olivia was sulking on the balcony, staring into the night. The thought of losing millions made her feel like her heart was bleeding. Alexander noticed her puffed cheeks and felt an inexplicable urge to poke them.
Just then, Oliviaโs phone rang. It was Vanceโs assistant, calling to explain the situation as instructed. Hearing that the money was being returned to her, Oliviaโs anger evaporated instantly. Her bright eyes turned crescent-shaped with joy, and her lips curled into a mischievous smile. Alexander observed the change in her demeanor, amused. Although he didnโt understand why she was so obsessed with moneyโฆ he had plenty of it to spare.
After hanging up, Olivia felt completely rejuvenated. The assistant had told her the contract could be signed the next day, and the money would be transferred to her immediately after. The ups and downs of life are exhilarating!
Just as she was feeling content and ready for a good nightโs sleep, she turned around to see Alexander. At some point during her phone call, he had finished showering and was now lying casually on the bed, a towel wrapped around his waist. Olivis fell silent.
