Her gaze swept past Daxton’s legs.

“Your legs stopped working suddenly a few years ago, right? The drugging must have started a month or two before your mobility issues began. This drug slowly ages a person. Be careful with what you eat from now on.”

Olivia wasn’t foolish; if Daxton were truly feigning illness, she would have left him long ago. It was during her diagnosis that she discovered issues convincing her of Daxton’s plight.

Meanwhile, Daxton, who thought he had fooled Olivia with his acting, was internally conflicted. Her words shocked him deeply. His legs had indeed failed following an accident years ago, which doctors attributed to spinal nerve damage. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have accused you of faking,” Bellamy said to Olivia, feeling somewhat guilty. How pitiful is this elderly man, drugged by his own kin?

Lucas had just finished berating Louis and was feeling triumphant when he and Benjamin saw a crowd and heard talk of deception.

“Deception? Did I miss something?”

Curious, Lucas and Benjamin pushed through the crowd.
