“How could I possibly drug you?” Byron, his face pale, was busy explaining, having lost the sharpness and authority of the elite he once was. Daxton frowned deeply at Byron but remained silent. This silence only heightened Byron’s panic. He quickly turned to Benjamin.

“Benjamin, you know Grandpa adores you. Please, help me explain to him! How could I drug him for power? I’m already his designated heir. Why would I risk poisoning him? Wouldn’t it be better to just wait peacefully for Grandpa to retire?”

Benjamin’s face remained expressionless as he stared at Byron. “You might be willing to wait for Grandpa to retire, but you can’t bring Benedict back to the Moore family without control of Moore Group before then.”

It wasn’t impossible, given Byron’s fondness for Benedict, that he’d want him to return to the family fold sooner. Byron was momentarily stunned. “I do want Benedict back sooner. He’s suffered so much growing up outside; what’s wrong with wanting to make amends by bringing him back to his roots? Moreover, how does that relate to drugging your grandpa? Don’t accuse me just because you’re jealous of Benedict!”

Benjamin smirked slightly, then looked away, unwilling to look at Byron any longer. It was always like this. Whenever Benedict was mentioned, Byron’s heart blatantly favored him. Daxton’s face grew even darker.

Byron protested, “Dad, you can’t suspect me just because I favor Benedict, can you?” Daxton ignored Byron completely. Byron could only look to Olivia. “Don’t spout lies; what evidence do you have that I was the one who drugged him?”

Olivia, supporting her chin with one hand and tilting her head, watched Byron, who was as frantic as an ant on a hot pan. “I also think it wasn’t you who drugged him.” Olivia’s words stunned the three men of the Moore family present. Daxton and Benjamin looked at Olivia in surprise. Byron was flabbergasted by the sudden turn in Olivia’s argument.

“It wasn’t my father who drugged him?” Benjamin looked at Olivia in astonishment. Considering how cautious Daxton usually was, rarely eating out, if anyone had drugged him, it had to be within the Moore family. But now, Olivia was saying it wasn’t Byron.

“Of course not! You ungrateful child! How can you question me like this?” Byron fumed at Benjamin.

Under the scrutiny of three generations of the Moore family, Olivia took a sip of tea and said calmly, “While it seems your dad would benefit the most, as he said, even if he did nothing, the Moore family would eventually be his. Why would he risk bearing the stigma of patricide?”

“The real beneficiary is someone eager for your dad to take over complete control of Moore family assets for their gain.” In an instant, Olivia’s words hit them like a bucket of cold water, enlightening them to the key issue at hand.
