Chapter 41: An Ant Trying to Topple a Mountain
Olivia skillfully handed over her ID and bank card to open her trading account. Unlike in her previous life, this time she wasnโt trading stocks to stay close to Alexander, but to get far away from him.
By the time Olivia finished setting up her account, Vance finally staggered over, still pale and weak from the car ride.
โOlivia, are you really not considering joining my company? If you agree, I guarantee top-tier resources, and you can name your price. You wouldnโt even have to spend much timeโjust participate in a few key concerts!โ Vance pleaded.
Olivia didnโt even lift her eyes, her focus entirely on recalling the stock she was searching for. Seeing her indifference, Vanceโs expression shifted, and he adopted a pitiful tone.
โOlivia, Iโm really struggling hereโฆ You have no idea how fierce the competition is in the entertainment industry right now. Handsome men and beautiful women are everywhere, and people keep mocking Zenith Entertainmentโs artists for being nothing but pretty faces.โ
Olivia didnโt even look up.
โTheyโre right.โ
Vance thought, Olivia, thatโs just mean!
โOlivia, please help me! Zenith Entertainment really needs an artist like you!โ Vance continued, now resorting to shameless flattery.
โGet lost and stop bothering me,โ Olivia said impatiently.
Vance was out of options. He stared at Olivia, his mind racing as he recalled bits of gossip heโd heard from the Wilson family. Then, an idea struck.
โOlivia, could it be that youโre just shy?โ he asked.
Olivia finally looked up, her expression one of utter disbelief.
โOlivia, weโre family. Do you think I donโt know how you feel about Alex? My brother might be a little cold, but donโt worry. If you join my company, Iโll personally deliver Alex to youโgift-wrapped!โ Vance said, winking exaggeratedly.
Even heroes fall for beauty! he thought. With Alexโs looks, you couldnโt find a second man like him in the whole country.
Chapter Mi: An Ant Trying to Topple a Mountain
Vance decided to go all in. He didnโt believe for a second that Olivia could resist a โbeauty trap.โ Now Olivia was sure he was a complete idiot.
โIโm not interested in Alex,โ she said bluntly.
Vance didnโt buy it.
โYouโre not interested? Then why do you cook for him every day? Stay up in the living room until midnight waiting for him? Wash his clothes by hand?โ
If thatโs not love, then what is?
Listening to Vance list all the things she used to do for Alexander, Olivia wanted nothing more than to slap her past self.
This is just embarrassing!
Olivia chose to play dead, completely ignoring Vanceโs endless chatter. Finally, she found the stock she remembered from her past life. Olivia took out the $28,000 check and invested all of it in that stock.
Vance leaned over to look and nearly choked.
โOlivia, are you joking? Youโre putting $28,000 into that stock?โ
The stock in question was a plummeting American companyโs stock, which had dropped from $11 per share to a shocking $0.30. And it was still falling. Anyone with half a brain would know that buying such a stock was a one-way ticket to financial ruin.
โDo you even realize that capital is gutting this company? Itโs on the verge of bankruptcy. If you buy it, youโll lose everything,โ Vance said, genuinely trying to warn her.
Olivia knew. Of course, she knew. This company was a veteran gaming firm that had been in business for decades. Since going public, its stock had been in a continuous decline, hitting historical lows under the manipulation of capital. It was teetering on the edge of collapse. But Olivia also knew something else. In just two weeks, this stock would become a legend in the stock market.
Chapter M: An Ant Trying to Topple a Mountain
โHave you ever heard of an ant trying to topple a mountain?โ Olivia suddenly asked.
