Daxton felt things were not unfolding as he had anticipated. It seemed as if a part of the story had been entirely skipped over.

“Daxton, I know exactly what you’re thinking, and you’d better give up that idea. My family will never enter the doors of the Moore family,” Walden slammed his cane down hard, making his intentions crystal clear.

Daxton was immediately displeased.

“What do you mean by ‘your family won’t enter’? Do you think I care? If it weren’t for her being Casey’s granddaughter, do you think I’d want anything to do with your bloodline? You think too highly of yourself.”

Walden retorted, “You wish you could, but it’s impossible!”

Daxton snapped back, “You old cur! If it hadn’t been for your scheming back in the day, would Casey have ended up with you?”

Walden finally spoke his mind, “How many years have you been stewing over this? In the end, Casey was my wife, you shameless man, coveting another man’s wife. Have you no shame at all?”

Daxton argued, “Don’t talk nonsense! Casey and I were nothing more than acquaintances; I just think you were never good enough for her!”

Soon, the two old men were openly insulting each other. Gone were their fierce and ruthless tactics from their business battles; they were like two bulls locking horns, each trying to best the other, wishing they could take each other down. As they argued, their canes began to swing. This spectacle left Benjamin and the others dumbfounded. Benjamin felt a headache coming on and stepped forward, intending to ask the other three members of the Kenneth family to take a rest.

Then… a brand new cane swung directly towards him. Had Benjamin not reacted quickly, that strike could have cracked his bones.

“You little brat, can’t you understand what I’m saying? You’ll never marry a girl from my family, so you might as well give up on that idea!” Walden was furious.

Daxton interjected, “Don’t bother explaining to him. With his temperament, if he were any good at listening to others, he wouldn’t be so detestable. Walden, do you think you can control young people’s love…”
