Natalie chuckled at Emma’s messages. Natalie had never underestimated anyone.

Murray was so arrogant that he fell for the trap. Hopefully, Emma wouldn’t.

Finally, the cars in front started moving.

After changing lanes, Natalie got onto the ring road. She was worried about Luna.

Easton sat in the passenger seat and felt uncomfortable with the speed of the car.

Natalie drove steadily without any sudden braking.

Easton glanced at her. Her cool gaze and smooth skin were captivating in the moonlight.

Suddenly, Easton felt unfamiliar with Natalie. In the two years she spent with him, Natalie had always seemed ordinary.

She was busy every day, occupied with making delicious meals. Every time he came home, he would see her bustling in the kitchen.

Now Natalie was unsettling for him. He still preferred Natalie as she was before, when her eyes were always on him.

Preparing dinner and late-night snacks and waiting for him to return from work was something she did every day. At social gatherings, he rarely ate because there were always Natalie’s tasty meals waiting for him at home.

In the six months since she had left, his appetite had worsened, and he frequently experienced stomach aches.

Easton felt strange. When she was plain, she seemed dull and uninteresting.

After she became capable, he wished she would go back to being ordinary. When her entire focus was on him, he felt happy. On many nights, the gentle light from the kitchen warmed his lonely heart.

Easton said, “Natalie, come home with me tonight.”

Natalie was trying to figure out how to save Luna when Easton’s sudden words upset her. Natalie said, “I won’t go with you. Don’t distract me while I’m driving.”

As Luna’s location got closer, Natalie’s heart started racing with anxiety.

Finally, as they neared Luna’s location, police cars were all around.

Natalie pulled the car over.

She opened the car door, got out, and ran over as fast as she could. She saw Carl and urgently asked, “Carl, where is Luna?”

Carl pointed to a nearby abandoned building and said, “Natalie, Luna is hanging on the building. The rescue team is helping her. Don’t worry.”

Natalie looked up and saw Luna swinging in the cold wind. Natalie’s face turned red with anger. Thankfully, the rescue team was carefully bringing Luna down to safety.

Natalie and Carl ran into the abandoned building.

It wasn’t until the fourth floor that they finally saw Luna.

Chapter 209

Natalie said, “Luna.” The countryside was quite cold at night.

Luna’s hands and feet were icy cold. Natalie held her hands, looked at her pale little face, and softly said, “Luna.”

Luna was freezing and almost numb. She shook her head and said in a trembling voice, “Natalie, I’m fine. Don’t worry about me. I uploaded the video to the cloud storage. Did you see it?”

Natalie nodded and said, “I saw it. Thanks to you, Murray will be fine.”

Luna smiled, “That’s good!”

But Natalie felt sad and said, “Silly girl, how can you still smile? Doesn’t it hurt?”

Luna said, “Natalie, it doesn’t hurt. I can still move my hands. The muscles in my arms are strained. I’ll be fine after a few days of rest.”

Natalie wanted to ask how Luna was exposed, but the police officers arrived.

A police officer said, “Ms. Sanchez, can you recognize the people who captured you?”

Luna shook her head and said, “Someone put a bag over my head when I went out. I have no idea who brought me here.”

The police officer said, “Alright, we’ll check the nearby surveillance recordings. You should go to the hospital. We’ll call you once we have some information on the investigation.”

Natalie took Luna away and told Carl to leave first. They couldn’t let Easton find out Carl’s identity.

Lance Group was Natalie’s greatest support and her last hope. The company’s performance was booming.

She helped Luna into the car.

Luna saw Easton and pulled a long face.

Luna said, “Natalie, why is he here? He’s the one who brought people to catch us red-handed.” Luna glared at Easton with eyes filled with rage.

Natalie comforted her, “Don’t worry. Just ignore him.”

Easton turned to Luna and said, “I have never offended you. Why are you so hostile towards me?”

Luna said, “Because you’re such a jerk!”

Easton frowned but didn’t say a word in the end.

No matter how he tried to redeem himself, in front of them, he was always in the wrong.

Natalie drove back to the city and took Easton to the nearest hospital to drop him off.

Natalie said, “Mr. Garcia, here is safe. Please leave by taxi. I need to take Luna to the hospital for a check-up.”

Easton fell into a trance. Once he went to see Jennifer and left Natalie on the road just like this. Now he realized how awful that felt. He said in a deep voice, “Let me go with you.”

Natalie shook her head and refused, “No need. You said that I was healthier than Jennifer and that I could handle anything. Jennifer is your fragile true love. Go to be with your true love. Luna is reluctant to see you.”

Easton ignored her sarcasm and said in confusion, “How many bad things have you told her about me for her to hate my guts?”

Natalie laughed in frustration, “Mr. Garcia, I’m not a gossip. Luna hates you because she has investigated the things you and Jennifer did to me. She knows the facts even better than I do. Thus, she hates you.”

Easton was stuck for words. That was the reason.

Natalie helped Luna to the hospital. Easton called Xavier to come pick him up.

Easton had an urgent meeting tonight.

Easton stood by the roadside and thought about the night’s events. Jennifer’s deceitful plan killed two birds with one stone. She got Murray arrested and made Natalie hate me more.

Jennifer even took Natalie’s credit for saving me. I underestimated Jennifer.

Even I didn’t predict Jennifer’s survival tactics.

In the hospital, Natalie sent Luna into the examination room and waited outside.

Natalie felt tired, sat on the bench, and saw a message from Maurice.

Lambert’s messages warmed Natalie’s heart.

There was a commotion outside. Natalie stood up to check it out.

In the dimly lit hallway, two doctors leaned against the wall. A boy knelt on the floor. Natalie couldn’t see the boy’s face from far away.

Natalie walked over and heard the boy’s pleading voice. The boy said, “Please save my grandma. She’s all I have. I promise I’ll gather the money for the surgery by tomorrow. Please save her.”
