Natalie didn’t go over, but instead stood coldly at a distance, waiting.

Inside, Jacob looked at the man and woman who entered, frowning slightly. “Can I help you with something?”

Jennifer was slightly surprised to see the strikingly handsome young man; he was so pretty it was hard to tell if he was male or female. She glanced at Oliver, signaling him to speak.

Oliver looked at Jacob and said, “Mr. Parker, this is Ms. Simpson. I’ve researched you; you’re a top-notch computer hacker. Ms. Simpson admires your talent and wants to invite you to develop a security software system with us. This is the contract our company offers. You can check it out, and if you’re willing to join us, we can cover all your grandmother’s medical expenses.”

He thoroughly investigated this boy, who was considered a top hacker, previously doing jobs on EliteNet to earn money. But due to his grandmother’s substantial medical expenses, even though he was just eighteen, his earnings were limited.

If he joined their company, within five years, he’d stand out in the online world.

Jacob glanced at the arrogant Jennifer, feeling entirely uneasy. “Thanks, but no thanks,” he responded politely. He pushed the contract back without even wanting to glance at it.

Jennifer frowned slightly as she looked at him, then said with a smile, “Jacob Parker, that’s your name, right?”

Jacob slightly nodded, avoiding her condescending look, which made him uncomfortable. He felt an unexplained aversion towards this woman. It felt like she was his enemy, causing him to harbor hatred for her.

Jennifer said, “Jacob, join my company and I won’t disappoint you. Your grandma will receive better treatment; I’ll get the best specialists for her to prolong her life. This hospital’s skills aren’t great. I could even arrange for you to go abroad for treatment.”

Jennifer gently persuaded him, knowing that young ones like him were easy to deceive and control. Save him from his troubles, and he would be grateful and obedient. She loved taming these young guys.

Upon hearing this, a shadow crossed Jacob’s face. He suddenly took back the contract, opened it, and saw it was full of unfair terms. Within five years, his software needed to achieve certain goals, and for each sale, he would receive only thirty percent while the company took seventy.

He sneered as he closed the contract, taking the last bite of oatmeal. It had been a long time since he had tasted oatmeal this good, and he didn’t want to waste any. After finishing, he carefully placed the lid back on.

He spoke with indifference, “Sending my grandma abroad for treatment just to control me into developing software for you? Nice try, but I’m not agreeing. Thanks for the thought, but I won’t see you out!”

Jennifer’s eyes flashed with darkness when she heard his refusal. “Look, Jacob Parker, maybe you should reconsider my proposal. As for your grandma, if you don’t want her overseas, she can stay in the country…”

“No need, thanks for the offer, Miss. My grandma’s receiving good treatment here.” Jacob rejected with a cold expression. Seeing that he still didn’t understand the situation, Jennifer’s gaze turned ruthless.

Jacob noticed, eyes filled with murderous intent. This woman was no pushover, and there wasn’t a hint of kindness in her eyes.

Jennifer saw his stubborn refusal once more, and she was really angry, her face turning red. Yet, since he was still useful, she didn’t show him a bad attitude.

Jennifer said, “Jacob, it’s your privilege that I came to see you personally. I can make you a leader in the tech world.”

“And then take all the credit for my work?” Jacob bluntly revealed her hypocrisy.

Jennifer furrowed her brows and sneered. “Jacob, I chose you out of hundreds because of your talent. How could you see me this way? Here’s my number, call me anytime once you’ve thought it through. We can discuss the split. I’m not trying to steal your achievements. Please don’t misunderstand me, I’m really here to help you.” Her voice softened, and she gave him a gentle smile. This man was even more charming than Easton.

Easton was too intense, but this 18-year-old boy in front of her was exactly what she liked; he was beautiful.

Jennifer had an eye for beautiful things. Watching his passionate gaze and relaxed posture, she felt both attracted and repelled by his captivating yet aloof presence. Jennifer felt a strong desire to win him over.

“Miss, was I not clear enough? Please leave.” The intensity in his eyes grew.

Jennifer noticed it, a trace of confusion in her eyes. How can an 18-year-old boy have such a frightening expression? He seems like a demon emerging from the depths of hell.

Before Jennifer left, she gave him her phone number, hoping Jacob would eventually call her. Jacob took her number and threw it right into the trash can.

Jennifer left with a dark expression. Before departing, she wore a sinister smile, her warped sense of revenge teaching her one thing; if she can’t have it, destroy it.

Lucas pressed his lips together, thinking about how people were different. Natalie made no demands of him, but this woman…

With a cold smile, he promised himself he would never betray Natalie. Once he learned what he needed to, he would help her.

Natalie only came in after Jennifer left. She asked, “Do you know Jennifer?”

It finally dawned on Jacob that Natalie was talking about the woman who just left.

He shook his head and said, “I don’t know her. She invited me to join her company, but I turned her down.”

Natalie smiled, testing the waters as she asked, “But that’s an opportunity. Why didn’t you take it?”

Jacob looked a bit puzzled at Natalie and said, “Natalie, I just feel like she’s not a good person.”

Natalie took a deep breath, realizing that past or present, there was no escaping it. “What she can’t get will be destroyed. Be careful when you see her.” Natalie could only warn him in this way.

Natalie said, “She’s Jennifer. You’ve seen the news online and should know she’s my nemesis. She’s always plotting against me, let alone someone unprepared like you.”

Natalie’s eyes were filled with worry. Even if she was the first to Jacob, the ordeal between Jennifer and Jacob couldn’t be avoided.

Natalie said, “Jacob, in the future, if you see me, don’t say you know me. As long as you don’t admit knowing me, Jennifer, who admires your face, won’t do anything to you.”

Jacob’s deep and attractive eyes stared at her as he asked, “Natalie, do you really not need me to do anything for you? I’m really good with computers.” She seemed well aware of his situation.

Natalie didn’t notice his gaze. She shook her head and said, “You’re still just a kid. Focus on your studies for now. When the time comes, you can go wherever you want. I’ll help you without expecting anything back. After you graduate, just choose a place you love to work. And remember, even though you’re a standout in the industry, there’s always someone better out there.”

She found him early, allowing him to avoid Jennifer, because if she hadn’t, things wouldn’t have ended well for him. Jennifer loved to drop people once they were no longer useful to her. If one was no longer valuable, he or she couldn’t stay with her.
