Chapter 224

Jacob stared into her big, beautiful eyes and finally realized something: she thought his skills weren’t good enough. He understood. “Natalie, I’ll study hard. I’m not really scared of that woman.”

Natalie chuckled, looking at his captivating face. “Don’t make such bold claims. It’s not about whether you’re afraid of her, but about her being interested in you.”

Natalie brought him some fruit. “Have some fruit. I’ll introduce you to a few mentors. If you want to stay and take care of your grandma, you can study alongside them. Jacob felt a warmth ignite in his eyes after hearing her heartfelt words. He nodded earnestly. “Alright! Natalie, I’ll study hard. I want to stay here to keep Grandma company.”

Natalie said, “Great! Then I’ll help you arrange for a tutor. Which university did you get into?”

“Shagrity Technology University.”

“That’s wonderful. I happen to know a mentor there. He’s very fair and can accompany you to places you want to.” After saying that, Natalie immediately contacted Trent. She then had Jacob exchange contact info with him.

Seeing the name, Jacob was surprised. “Natalie, you know Professor Trent Moraros?”

“He was my mentor, but he’s very strict. Just because I recommend you doesn’t mean he’ll accept you. You’ll have to work hard on your own.”

Tears welled up in Jacob’s eyes as he thanked Chris. “Dr. Johnson, thank you so much!”

Chris said, “No need to thank me, but thank Natalie. Without her getting me this job as the director, your grandma’s surgery wouldn’t have happened.”

Natalie laughed and said, “Chris, are you just showing off that you’re the director now?”

Chris laughed and suddenly felt energetic, patting Natalie on the shoulder. “Natalie, I’m only 25, have you seen a 25-year-old doctor become a director? Let’s go, I want to brag to my friends about it!” Chris left with a smile.

Natalie shook her head as she watched him leave and said, “Chris, we really need to keep everyone off this floor, and you should handle the medicine changes personally.”

Chris was puzzled. “Why?”

Natalie didn’t give a reason. “Chris, you need to take care of the medicine changes yourself for the next three days. I’m worried someone might cause trouble.”

Jacob was also aware that Natalie was worried Jennifer might cause trouble.

Just as she was about to remove the oxygen tube, Jacob rushed in and stopped her.

The woman, in a panic, ran away. Chris happened to come by to change the medicine and saw the woman leaving hastily.

Chris was shocked. Unable to stop the woman, he checked on Jacob’s grandma instead. Only the oxygen mask was removed; everything else was fine.

“I was terrified. If that oxygen mask had been off for ten minutes, your grandma wouldn’t have survived.” Chris patted his chest, realizing Natalie was right after all.

Chris said, “Kid, until your grandma wakes up, you can’t leave her side from now on. I’ll have everything you need brought here. If anything happens, call me right away. Tomorrow’s the last day; once it’s over, she’ll be alright.”

Jacob’s expression was grim. “Alright, Dr. Johnson, thank you!”

“No worries, just doing my job.” After that near scare, Chris left slowly, his legs weak, worried about a medical mishap. Jacob looked at his grandma’s kind face and let out a sigh of relief. He whispered, “Grandma, you’ll be alright. Since Jennifer would destroy anything she couldn’t have, he would take his revenge for that, too.

Natalie received the message from Jacob, saying someone tried to pull out his grandma’s oxygen tube. Natalie advised him not to leave the hospital room.

Jennifer knew the plan had failed, making it difficult to find another opportunity.

She looked at Oliver, her eyes cold. “Besides him, can we find any other kids?”

Oliver nodded. “Yes! This field is never short of talent. This time, I found one of Jacob Parker’s rivals. His family isn’t well-off, and he relies on scholarships for college tuition.”

Oliver laughed. “Ms. Simpson, your idea is brilliant. They are young and passionate right now, eager to make their mark in the company, and they do everything possible for its success.”
