Chapter 32
Murray glanced at Easton, sure he was in on some scheme with Jennifer, targeting the Spencer family. โAlright, Easton, Jennifer, I hope youโre not behind my grandmotherโs troubles and that bodyguardโs accident. If you are, Iโll make your lives hell.โ
He then turned to Emma, speaking softly, โGrandma, letโs get you home to rest.โ
Emma, her gaze sharp, spoke to Jennifer, โJennifer, I donโt have proof, but a video shows you throwing something in the pool after you parted with Easton. Without evidence, you slipped through. Next time, luck wonโt save you.โ
Then she turned to Murray, her voice firm. โMurray, Ms. Shawn is a fine, kind woman. You should get to know her better. In just an hour, I could see sheโs genuine and down-to-earth.โ
Murray recalled Natalieโs decisive moves, feeling a pang of envy. He smiled through a wince, โOuchโฆ that hurts,โ the pain in his hand still echoing.
Emmaโs concern was etched on her face as she asked, โIs your hand alright?โ
Murray shook it off, โItโs fine, just a bit painful.โ
Easton frowned, wondering about Natalieโs medical skills. He briefly thought she could have helped with his eye, but then he remembered his grandma had set him up with that doctor. What he couldnโt understand was her knack for setting bones.
Eastonโs agitation grew. To Jennifer, he said, โGo back and rest. I have things to handle.โ
Jennifer clutched his hand, her eyes pleading, โEaston, wonโt you stay with me? Iโm feeling really low.โ
Without a word, Easton walked away, his mood heavy with doubt from Emmaโs words. Jennifer had indeed left the banquet hall brieflyโฆ
โBut she is gentle and kind; she couldnโt do anything wrong. It must be Natalie spreading lies about her to Emma.โ This idea calmed him; he was sure it was Natalieโs fault, having seen her malice before.
As he recalled Natalieโs words by the elevator, accusing Jennifer of framing her every time, he sneered inwardly, โRidiculous. Iโve seen those happen myself!โ
Watching Easton leave, Jennifer cried in anger, upset that he was leaving her behind for the first time.
Wendy comforted her, โLetโs go home, Jennifer.โ
With a nod, Jennifer agreed, โOkay.โ
The party rolled on, with guests feasting and the Spencer staff ensuring everything ran smoothly.
Once in the car, Easton asked Xavier, โWhereโs Natalie?โ
Xavier gestured across the street. โMs. Shawn is on a blind date. The guy sheโs with is quite the looker, and they seem to be hitting it off.โ
Easton pulled open the car door and strode directly towards the restaurant.
Inside, the gentle music created an elegant and soothing atmosphere. Natalie was savoring her steak and deeply engaged in conversation with the man opposite her, Maurice Chambers.
Maurice was young and successful, having climbed the ranks in a foreign land for years before returning home. She knew he was on track to become a leading tycoon in a few years.
In her past life, she had encountered him at a party upon his return. This time, thanks to her grandfather, she met him sooner.
Never in her wildest dreams did Natalie imagine that the blind date she was here for was with the very tycoon she had admired in her past life, Maurice.
Their conversation flowed effortlessly, fueled by their shared experiences in Rasvigas, where Natalie had studied.
As Easton entered the restaurant and witnessed this scene, he was about to approach when an unseen force held him back.
