Chapter 98

Easton had already learned about what happened to Natalie, which is why he called her. Hearing Jason’s words now, his gaze sharpened instantly.

“Help you with what?” He knew exactly what was going on, his voice as cold as ice.

Jason wasn’t afraid of him knowing, since they were all in this together. He said, “Easton, here’s the thing. I want Zach and the others to stop Natalie and teach her a lesson. She upset Jennifer last time, and Jennifer has been down for days. Natalie didn’t go back and apologize to her.

“I thought giving her a lesson today would make her apologize quickly, but they went too far. Now that they tried to mess with Natalie, they’ve all been taken away by the police. Easton, everyone knows you. Can you do us a favor and get them out?”

Easton’s handsome face instantly turned icy, his expression fierce. “Jason, are you even human? Just because Jennifer was unhappy, you went and ruined Natalie?” His cold, angry voice was so chilling that it made Jason shiver, even through the screen.

Jason explained, “Easton, I just wanted to teach her a lesson, make her divorce you sooner. Aren’t you always into Jennifer? I did this for you two. You have to help me out here.”

Easton closed his eyes, realizing this was how they bullied Natalie. He thought, ‘How much pain must her heart be in?’

“Jason, are you a total idiot? There’s proof of most of what Jennifer has done, yet you all ignore it and keep hurting Natalie repeatedly.

“Some of the things Jennifer did, you did with her. Are you really going to act like you don’t know?

“Also, Natalie is my wife. If you mess with her, you’re messing with me. I won’t get those people out; I’ll make sure they never come out. Go back and tell Jennifer that I’ll never marry her in this lifetime.”

“Easton, you promised to marry her; you can’t do this. Jennifer will be heartbroken for life,” said Jason, panicking.

Easton curled his lips into a cruel smile, pronouncing each word clearly. “The promise to marry her was because she was believed to be the real daughter of your Simpson family, but it turns out, the real daughter is Natalie.

“I only consider her an old friend from childhood; as for being my wife, she’s not suitable. Why would I bring home a trophy wife? Jason, you better hope Natalie’s okay. If she has even a scratch, I’ll make you pay.” Easton angrily hung up the phone.

After speaking, he walked out quickly. Xavier got it immediately and went to get the car ready.

In his sports car, Jason was surprised to see that Natalie’s car was already parked in front of the high-end mall. He parked his car too, recalling Easton’s words that he won’t marry Jennifer.

He thought, ‘What should I do? If Natalie doesn’t come back, Easton and Jennifer won’t be together. Damn Natalie, she’s such a troublemaker.’

Jason opened the car door and got out. Natalie and Luna were aware that Jason was following them. The two of them didn’t mind and went shopping for clothes.

James also heard the news and rushed over. The two of them went to the women’s section, bought clothes, changed, and came back down.

Jason waited at the entrance, and when Natalie appeared with a cut on her face, he pressed his lips together slightly and went over to block her way.

Natalie frowned when she heard James’s voice. “Are you okay, Natalie?” James quickly walked to her side.

Natalie dove into her brother’s arms. “James, they scared me to death.”

Luna thought, ‘Ms. Shawn knows how to act cute now.’

James gently comforted her, “Don’t be afraid, Natalie, I am here.” James softly patted her back, his voice filled with indulgence.

Jason watched the two hugging, feeling inexplicably irked. Natalie had never called him like this before. But he had completely forgotten; it was he who told Natalie not to call him brother.

“Is your face hurt?” James felt extremely guilty. “I’ve already reported them; those people were involved in multiple crimes and won’t be coming around again.”

When Jason heard this, he looked at James with a scrutinizing gaze and hurriedly said, “Natalie, Zach was just joking around.” Natalie’s cold voice interrupted him, “Messing around? Jason, do you really believe what you’re saying? That man called you right in front of me. No wonder you and Jennifer are siblings, both so cruel.”

Today’s events might have been Jason trying to teach her a lesson, but Jennifer’s influence was all over it.

“Jason, just because Jennifer’s unhappy, do you have to ruin me too? What’s my fault if Easton won’t go through with the divorce papers with me? I’ve already cut all ties with your family and kept my distance. Her being unhappy has nothing to do with me. Just because Jennifer is upset, does it mean I have to face consequences for her mood too?

“Jason, do you know why they didn’t reveal the mastermind today? Because in half a month, your life will be over. Just a friendly warning–it’s best if you don’t join the competition.

“If you join the competition, you’ll understand why you weren’t exposed today and why that person didn’t reveal you. You’ll find out that day.”

She thought, Easton isn’t marrying Jennifer anymore, and she’s going to cause even more trouble. It will only hasten her brothers’ downfall.

This was the second time Jason heard these words. He yelled angrily, “Natalie, you don’t have to be so sarcastic. I’ve watched Jennifer grow up.”

Natalie nodded with a smile, “Isn’t it better if you trust her?” She thought, “The more you trust, the more you get hurt.”

“Oh, by the way, even though I’m no longer your sister, just a heads up–you really shouldn’t enter that race,” Natalie said as she took James’s arm and started to leave.

Jason blocked their way, “Natalie, how can you be so heartless? What about Zach’s mom? She’s disabled. What will she do if he goes in?”

Natalie laughed at the shamelessness of his words, “Jason, wasn’t it all your doing? Why are you asking me what to do about it?”

“Heartless? When you had them assault me, did you think about whether you were being heartless? His mom is disabled, and knowing he could end up in jail with no one to care for her, why did he do something illegal?

“You’re all about justice and helping others, yet when you cause trouble, you want me to bear the consequences? Why should I, the victim, be punished? What did I do wrong?”

Natalie had gotten used to staying calm in the face of this shameless family. Her tone was steady, but completely devoid of warmth.

“Natalie, you’re fine, right? Why don’t you write a letter of forgiveness to get them out? I’ll let you come back to the Simpson family,”

Suddenly, James raised his fist and punched hard right in Jason’s face. Jason was knocked to the ground, dazed from the punch.

Looking down at him, James shouted angrily, “Who’s being pitied here? As long as I’m alive, there’s no way I’m letting Natalie go back to your shameless Simpson family! Get lost!”
