Chapter 52

The timing was perfect. Daphne deliberately applied fresh, radiant makeup, radiating the charm of a bright and beautiful woman. It had been years since she felt this carefree. She was naturally cheerful and bright; her true nature remained unchanged in both her past and present lives. Wilson and Yvonne had forced her into becoming a sharp, combative person—a version of herself she barely recognized.

She looked at her reflection and smiled with satisfaction. This was her true self: warm and radiant like the autumn sun, kind, sincere, and approachable.

Sebastian was momentarily stunned when he knocked on her door and saw her. Daphne caught the flash of admiration in his eyes and shyly tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear. "Do I look weird dressed like this?"

Sebastian regained his composure and gave her a genuine compliment. "Not at all. You look amazing."

"Good. Let's go then, Sebastian," she smiled brightly, her large eyes sparkling.

Dinner was held at a serene private club, a popular venue for business moguls and celebrities to host discreet events. Privacy was paramount. Daphne and Wilson had frequented the place when they were together. He had even arranged a private, circular suite exclusively for her. This was her first time returning since her divorce.

However, Ava looked slightly embarrassed and whispered an apology. "Daph, about your old private suite… Wilson transferred the usage rights to Yvonne. We can't access it anymore. I'm so sorry. I didn't know the manager was so quick to switch sides and curry favor with those in power."

"It's alright. This industry is full of people who worship power and trample on the weak. Let's just book another suite." She wasn't going to let such a trifle ruin her good mood.

Yvonne appeared just as they were arranging for another suite. She was accompanied by four or five influencers with similar surgically enhanced faces. They buzzed around Daphne like annoying flies.

"Well, look who it is. Ms. Yeager, are you here for dinner too?"

Daphne rolled her eyes, unwilling to waste her breath. "Do I know you that well?"

Surprisingly, Yvonne didn't lose her temper. Instead, she seemed pleased.

"Ms. Yeager, you probably don't know yet. Wilson transferred the long-term usage rights for that suite to me. He personally made the call to arrange it." Her voice dripped with mockery and smugness.

The influencers immediately joined in, seizing the opportunity to mock Daphne.

"She probably still thinks she's Mr. Farrell's wife. Let me tell you, Yvonne will be his future wife. Mr. Farrell treats her like a queen, giving her anything she wants. Unlike some people who won't even get a glance from him now."

"I can't imagine how she still dares to come here. I'm sorry, but that suite belongs to Yvonne now. Some people should just know their place and leave!"

Since Daphne's rise to fame, she hadn't been subjected to such humiliation. She was a household name, an A-list star always treated as an honored guest, independent of Wilson's influence. She couldn't believe these ignorant people dared to mock her over a suite. She had no intention of tolerating such treatment.
