Chapter 55
Daphne’s journey had been challenging, and Ava had witnessed it all. The two women were not only colleagues but true friends, sharing a deep bond of mutual understanding.
Ava hugged Daphne, her heart full of compassion. “I know how much you’ve endured with the Farrell family. Things will get better.”
“Don’t worry, Ava. I’m fine.”
The world was full of flaws, but there were always people trying to mend them. After her rebirth, not everyone sought to harm or exploit her. Some genuinely cared for her simply because she was Daphne, not because she was a superstar or Mrs. Farrell.
She poured herself another glass of wine, raising it toward Sebastian. “Sebastian, although we initially formed this partnership for mutual benefit, I still want to thank you for your timely help and unwavering support. Here’s to you.”
Just as she was about to drink, Sebastian stopped her by holding her wrist. Taking the glass from her hand, he drank it himself. “Drink less. I’ll have to carry you home if you get drunk. Accept my thanks, but as my future wife, your problems are naturally mine to handle. Besides, you said we’re partners.”
Although Sebastian often teased her about being his wife, Daphne’s cheeks still flushed slightly at his words. She even felt his hand gripping her wrist was unusually warm, almost burning. Suddenly, Daphne felt that alcohol really wasn’t a good idea.
Then, she awkwardly pulled her hand away and murmured, “Got it.”
Daphne announced her first public appearance after terminating her previous contract, and the topic “Daphne to Attend the Joy Fashion Charity Event” quickly shot to the top of trending searches. This marked Daphne’s first official appearance since the storm of her divorce and contract termination. It was also her first red-carpet event since Wilson’s infidelity had come to light. She had turned down countless events that could have boosted her visibility over the years, all in her futile attempts to save her marriage. Thinking back now, it felt like such a waste.
Her once-quiet fan base now erupted like a massive boulder crashing into a calm lake, creating waves of excitement. Fans began celebrating and rallying in support. The Joy Fashion Charity Event was scheduled for the following Saturday afternoon in a seaside city.
The guest list included A-list, B-list, and C-list celebrities from the entertainment industry, as well as elite representatives from the business world. As it was a fundraising event, the guest list was extensive. For many, this was not only a chance to gain exposure but also an opportunity to shape their public image and showcase themselves. Smaller stars, in particular, valued such appearances, as not everyone had the chance to attend such a high-profile charity gala.
Of course, Daphne wasn’t one of them. Since her debut, she had been quietly contributing to charitable causes, and her fans often described her as beautiful and kind-hearted.
“Looks like I can’t avoid running into those two scumbags,” Daphne mused as she scanned the guest lineup announced by Joy Fashion.
Ava and Wendy were busy scouting locations for their new company during the waiting period before the event. They had visited many sites, but none seemed ideal. It was either way too expensive or too inconvenient.
Changes Made:
- Corrected numerous spelling errors (Daphine to Daphne, Deptine to Daphne, Waltr to waste, etc.).
- Improved sentence structure and flow.
- Corrected punctuation, particularly comma usage and quotation marks.
- Clarified ambiguous phrasing.
- Standardized capitalization and formatting.
- Added a B-list to the celebrity categorization.
- Replaced informal language ("scumbags") with more suitable alternatives where appropriate. ("those two scumbags" kept as it's likely intended to reflect Daphne's inner thoughts).
The revised passage is significantly clearer and more polished.
