Meanwhile, Daphne enrolled in a short-term Pilates class to prepare for the red carpet, wanting to present her best self.
By coincidence, she ran into Liliana Tucker. Like Daphne, Liliana was an A-list celebrity in the entertainment industry. The public often compared them as rivals of equal standing, and their fanbases frequently clashed online over minor disagreements. However, only they knew their relationship was deeper than the rumors suggested. Daphne deeply admired Liliana, and Liliana had always shown her kindness. Neither used underhanded tactics, and both shared a fundamentally kind-hearted nature.
In her previous life, Daphne had been a brainless trophy wife. From the moment she met Wilson, she had voluntarily cut off her social circle, revolving her entire world around him. This time, she wouldn't make the same mistakes. She wanted to make many friends.
Liliana, a longtime friend, greeted Daphne warmly. "Congratulations, Daphne. You've finally climbed out of that soul-sucking pit," Liliana said, extending her hand. Daphne shook it.
"So, what's your plan now? Are you going to sign with a new agency?" Liliana asked.
"My long-time manager, Ava, left Starstruck Entertainment with me, so I'm planning to start my own company and manage my career independently. After many years, I no longer want to be at someone else's mercy," Daphne replied.
"That does sound liberating, but it comes with difficulties. You'll need to be cautious," Liliana cautioned kindly.
Daphne sighed. "Yeah, the beginning is always the hardest. I haven't even found a suitable office yet. There's still a long way to go."
"Well, my dad's company developed a space perfect for an independent artist's company. I can send you the location if you're interested, and you can arrange for someone to check it out. Let me know if it suits you, and I'll rent it to you at a discounted price."
"That's amazing. I'll definitely check it out after my current project."
While Daphne prepared for her career comeback, Zoey was exhausted by Yvonne.
"Call your boss here to greet me! I even came personally!" Yvonne demanded.
That afternoon, after the fashion event's announcement, Yvonne arrived at Zoey's styling studio with several staff members, creating a scene. Sensing the tension, the receptionist quickly called Zoey, who was designing a look for Yvette Zimmer. "What's all this shouting about?" Zoey asked.
When Zoey saw Yvonne, she was furious. "How dare you, a mistress, come to my studio? Aren't you afraid I'll slap you?"
Zoey's anger stemmed from Yvonne's bullying of Daphne and the humiliation of thirteen slaps Yvonne had given her.
Unfazed, Yvonne sat arrogantly in Zoey's office. "Ms. Yeager, there's no need to get so worked up. Originally, Wilson wanted to arrange for me to work with a top-tier styling team, but I decided to give you this opportunity to show my gratitude to Daphne for giving me her blessing to be with Wilson. I want you to style me for the Joy Fashion event."
Yvonne scanned Zoey disdainfully, her gaze filled with contempt.
"Me? Sorry, Ms. Smith. I've already accepted Ms. Zimmer's request. I don't have time for you," Zoey snapped, refusing without hesitation.
Zoey thought Yvonne was out of her mind. She was Daphne's sister, and Yvonne had wrecked Daphne's marriage. Zoey hadn't even slapped her yet; did she seriously expect Zoey to style her?
"Oh, are you talking about that small-time nobody? Styling her is a waste of time. She doesn't pay much, she's not well-known, and it won't benefit your career. So, why bother refusing me?" Yvonne retorted incredulously.
