Chapter 57
Zoe and Daphne shared a fiery temperament. With Daphne always backing her up in her career, Zoe had never been intimidated in the entertainment industry, though her studio wasn't top-tier.
“Ms. Smith, are you in the habit of stealing from others? First, it's other people's husbands; now, it's their stylists. Unfortunately, I have a strong sense of morality, and betrayal is unforgivable. You'd better find someone else!”
Zoe yanked the door open, clearly signaling Yvonne to leave.
Yvonne's expression soured as she struggled to maintain her composure. “Zoe, do you really think being Daphne’s sister means you’re untouchable? Don't forget you signed a contract with my company! I came here in person to show you some respect, so how dare you act so superior? You’ll style me, even if my manager has to call you!”
Yvonne shed her usual pretense of sweetness and gentleness with Wilson absent.
Zoe's heart sank as she remembered the contract.
Before Yvonne joined Stellar Entertainment, Zoe had signed a three-year, full-service styling agreement with the company, including styling services for all their artists. Back then, it was a lucrative deal; now, it was a liability.
One of Yvonne's lackeys smugly reminded her, “The contract clearly states that your studio must provide styling services for all of Stellar Entertainment’s artists. Ms. Smith is our most popular artist. Are you planning to breach the contract?”
Zoe, consumed by anger, found herself in a bind. She didn't want to style Yvonne, but her entire studio depended on her, so she couldn't afford to be reckless.
Forcing herself to calm down, Zoe reluctantly relented. “Fine, I’ll follow the contract. It’s just styling.”
Satisfied, Yvonne crossed her legs smugly. “You wouldn’t want to experience those thirteen slaps again, would you?”
Instantly, Zoe’s suppressed temper flared. It was bad enough that Yvonne hadn’t apologized. How dare this shameless woman provoke her?
Zoe glared at Yvonne. “Thanks for the reminder. I haven’t forgotten it. Believe me, I’ll make you pay for it someday.”
Yvonne disdainfully brushed off the spot where Zoe had pushed her. “I’d advise you to watch your temper. With Wilson backing me, I dare you to try!”
When Yvonne first approached her, Zoe had wondered if she was setting a trap to target Daphne. However, on second thought, no one in their right mind would jeopardize their career by using a high-profile public event to scheme against someone else.
With that in mind, Zoe resolved to approach Yvonne’s styling professionally and carefully. However, she wasn't going to let Yvonne off the hook.
Then, a wicked idea sparked in her mind. “Why don’t we test your makeup now since there’s still time and you’re already here?”
“My period started today, and my back hurts too much to sit. I’ll have to lie down,” Yvonne began to make a scene.
Zoe clenched her teeth. “Lying down for makeup? What are you, a corpse? Do you really think you’re some kind of queen who can throw your weight around here? Ever heard of ‘customer first’?”
Rendered speechless, Zoe cursed her silently. Then, a devious plan formed in her head.
