Chapter 59
Wonne proved even more troublesome than expected. Zory was furious but needed to find a way to borrow a haute couture piece for Yvonne. This charity event would attract numerous stars, including many A-listers, presenting a rare opportunity to boost her studio's exposure. Zoey's styling team's reputation would significantly rise if she could seize it.
Zoey and her team contacted several haute couture brands, but were rejected without exception. Yvonne's status and image were simply mismatched with the brands' styles.
Haute couture resources were typically reserved for A- and B-list celebrities. Rejection was inevitable for Yvonne, a rising C-lister with the air of nouveau riche.
Yvonne lacked self-awareness, believing she could obtain anything with the Farrell family's backing. She didn't realize the fashion world valued capital and held grudges.
Left with no other option, Zoey called Daphne. "How are you doing, Daph? I'm going crazy because of that bitch, Yvonne."
"What's wrong? Is she causing trouble again?"
Daphne, having just received jewelry options from her styling team, immediately answered Zoey's call. Zoey vented her frustration: "Remember last year when I signed with Stellar Entertainment? I completely forgot Yvonne is with them. She insists I style her for this event. I can't get out of it without paying a breach-of-contract penalty."
Daphne frowned. "Did she bully you? Did she lay a hand on you again?"
"No, but she's difficult. I'm not a pushover, though! I even snapped some embarrassing photos of her; I'll send them later. I also tugged her hair! You should have seen her face—hilarious!"
Daphne chuckled. Even after all these years, Zoey retained a childlike mischief. However, Zoey's tone turned serious. "She demanded a haute couture piece! Does she understand her own status? Those brands won't lend to someone like her. I'm stuck; she'll throw a tantrum if I don't get it."
"How long has she been in this industry? Does she think haute couture is as easy to get as vegetables at the market?"
Still feeling guilty about not protecting Zoey during their previous encounter with Wonne, Daphne joined the mockery. Then, she softened. "Don't worry, Zozo. I know the CEO of a domestic haute couture brand; I'll ask her to lend you something. I promise to get it for you."
"We have a major grudge against those two, but this is about your career. Don't let anger get in the way; style her seriously. I want to see your career flourish so we can collaborate openly and proudly in the future."
Zoey's styling studio wasn't top-tier. If Daphne, given her status, worked with a non-elite team, she risked criticism for downgrading her resources. Therefore, they hadn't officially collaborated.
"Daph, don't worry. I'll do exactly as you say. I'll take this event seriously."
While Daphne leveraged her connections, Yvonne clung to Wilson's neck, complaining, "Wilson, I'm so unlucky! I always run into Daphne or someone from her circle. I can't escape her!"
