Chapter 77

Daphne had never truly hated Yvonne for interfering in her relationship, whether in this life or a past one. Instead, her resentment was directed at Wilson, whom she felt was uncaring and lacking in judgment. This is why she hadn't actively retaliated against Yvonne.

Partly, she didn't want to expend energy on Yvonne; she prioritized reclaiming what she believed was rightfully hers. Also, Yvonne's tactics were so underhanded that Daphne considered them beneath her.

However, Yvonne's repeated provocations forced Daphne's hand. She had to strike back forcefully, lest Yvonne perceive her as a pushover.

Yvonne's online manipulation backfired; those she'd manipulated turned against her, demanding an apology and her immediate exit from the entertainment industry.

Yvonne hid at home, obsessively checking news websites. The relentless criticism devastated her. In her fury, she smashed everything in sight. Her phone rang incessantly, but she refused to answer. Finally, she switched it off.

She never anticipated Zoey's secret video recording or Daphne's trap. "Daphne, you bitch! I hope you die a terrible death!" she screamed, unleashing her rage. "Die, you bitch!"

Initially, Zoey only provided the rental logbook. Yvonne, naively believing this was the only evidence, thought she'd defeated Daphne, ending Daphne's reign as a top star and securing Wilson's favor.

But her hopes were instantly crushed, replaced by terror and anxiety. Public criticism she could withstand; her shamelessness allowed that. But the destruction of her carefully cultivated innocent image before Wilson was a different matter entirely. Wilson despised scheming liars. His rejection would render all her efforts worthless. Yvonne had never felt such anxiety. Then, her home phone rang—it was Tiana Banks, her mother.

Yvonne burst into tears. "What should I do, Mom? I worked so hard to win the Farrells' approval, and I've ruined it all!"

"You have only yourself to blame for letting that bitch best you. Calm down, save your tears for Wilson. You still have a chance. Remember, men like a woman who acts gently and cries for them. Wilson hasn't called yet, right?"

"No. I turned off my phone because of the constant calls from the media. It's so frustrating! I don't know if he's seen the news…"

"With it all over the internet, he's surely seen it. But since he hasn't called to interrogate you, he's probably just angry. Let me tell you what to do…"

After the call, Yvonne was calmer.

Meanwhile, at Farrell Group, Wilson read the news of the conflict between Yvonne, Daphne, and Zoey, his face grim. He slammed his phone on his desk.

His anger was palpable, and his secretary, Jackie Mendell, stood beside him, tears welling. She wanted to intercede for Yvonne but didn't know how. Wilson's fury was evident, the veins in his forehead throbbing.

As dusk fell, Wilson dug his nails into his chair's leather armrests, his gaze cold and distant. The tense atmosphere in the office caused Jackie to tremble silently.

Then, Wilson's desk phone vibrated violently. It was Tiana. Annoyed and upset, he almost let it go to voicemail, but answered just before it stopped ringing.
