Chapter 90

Throughout the years, James had met many people who tried to lower the price. However, this was the first time he'd heard someone raise the price, let alone double it.

"Of course," Daphne said, opening her bag. Then, she took out a card with her slender fingers. "We only live once, right? Since I'm an A-lister, there's no way I'll be short of money. I'm taking the seventh floor today."

Wendy, unsure of Daphne's plan, tugged on her sleeve. With a worried look, she reminded Daphne, "Daphne, you have to calm down. It isn't worth spending this much."

Daphne shot Wendy a glance. "Don't worry, I know what I'm doing."

Yvonne interrupted at just the right moment. "Wilson, let's just stop fighting with her. You don't have to protect me all the time. I can manage without a team…!!"

Wilson, in his deep voice, raised the price further. "Thirty million dollars."

Daphne didn't know whether to praise his generosity or call him foolish. After all, he was spending $30 million to please Yvonne. She reached out her hand. "Forty million dollars."

Wilson, knowing Daphne's funds were limited, smiled disdainfully. "Fifty million dollars. If you keep this up, you won't be able to pay."

Although an A-lister, the industry prioritized the best, limiting the number of jobs she could accept annually. Leena also publicly opposed Daphne's presence as Mrs. Farrell, year-round. Therefore, Daphne's income was far less than other top actresses. Wilson, aware of her financial situation, warned, "Stop while you can, Daphne. Otherwise, I can't promise you'll get anything from the divorce." His threat was genuine, and Daphne's fury was evident. "If you're not going to let me take the money, your mistress can forget about being the next Mrs. Farrell! So, you want the place, huh? Fine! You can have it! You'd better watch out from now on!!"

She stopped arguing, and Wilson ultimately spent fifty million dollars on the office. Since it was only worth ten million, he hadn't won. Wendy remained scared after returning to the car.

"When you said you were going to spend fifty million dollars, I was shocked. How could you possibly have that much money? You haven't been working much this past year, and Mr. Farrell's mother only allowed you one project annually. I think you're almost out of funds."

Daphne smiled cunningly in the rearview mirror. "I knew Wilson could easily buy the office. Since we couldn't win, we might as well let him waste as much money as possible. Besides, I made a fortune as well."

"What do you mean?" Wendy asked, confused.

Liliana's voice message arrived. "Oh, Daphne, you really are cruel for extorting your ex-husband like that. I've already transferred you thirty million dollars. If something as good as this comes up again, remember to let me know."

"Why did you transfer me thirty million dollars? Didn't we agree on twenty million?" Daphne asked.

"It's your ex-husband's money. Besides, you're the one who got the money, and I've already made ten million more than expected. I can't let you draw the short end of the stick. Just take the money."

"Well… alright. Just let me know if you need any help in the future."

Wendy slammed on the brakes. "Daphne, did you purposely raise the price earlier to split the money with Ms. Tucker?"

"Why else? Since I couldn't win against Wilson, I couldn't let myself lose in vain, right?" Daphne leaned back, satisfied, and closed her eyes. "Let's go. Now that we have the money, we can find ourselves a better office."

Finding an office was like finding a suitable life partner for Daphne. She wouldn't settle for anything flawed. However, Daphne, Ava, and Wendy couldn't find a suitable place.

Finally, Sebastian revealed that his company had several offices for rent, at market price.

Remembering the thirty million dollars, Daphne happily agreed.

"Now that we've solved our biggest problem, we can look forward to our new company launch, right?"
