Chapter 91
Daphne had never run an entertainment company before. Her only experience came from her interactions with her own company in previous years. To play it safe, she decided against rapid expansion. Her plan was to establish a reputable presence in the entertainment industry. She would consider scaling up only after the business was operating profitably.
Sebastian's office space was perfect: a spacious 5,000-square-foot space with a great view, a few floors above his own office. He even introduced Daphne to a reliable renovation company, and she promptly reimbursed him for the down payment. Simultaneously, she repaid the one million dollars he had spent on the emerald pendant at auction.
Though they had a good relationship, Daphne believed in maintaining professional boundaries and avoiding taking advantage of him. Having learned from past business failures, Daphne structured a proper agreement with Ava. Ava would be the company's legal representative, Sebastian the public-facing CEO, and Daphne the behind-the-scenes operator. Ava, Wendy, and Laces, a highly efficient team with years of experience, completed the registration process within days. They even posted job recruitment ads, awaiting only the completion of office renovations.
Their company, Radical Sun Media, secured official social media verification across all major platforms within two days. Daphne remained active during this period. Two days after meeting Wilson at Farrell Group, she received his call, and they resubmitted their divorce application. A month felt neither too short nor too long; work kept her busy.
Her first priority was the perfume endorsement she had previously put on hold due to a contract termination dispute with Starstruck Entertainment. She wanted to avoid a repeat of the Turner Group lawsuit, where Starstruck had sued her for breach of contract. After explaining the situation and gaining Turner Group's understanding, she postponed the deal. Now, with her new company and independence, she could act decisively. She planned to contact the perfume brand immediately.
Yvonne was upset. Wilson's absence from the courthouse weighed heavily on her mind. She searched for him all day, finding him unreachable. She worried he was having second thoughts about the divorce. Wilson's lack of explanation left her anxious and uneasy for days. Only after learning from Jackie that Leena had kept Wilson occupied all day did she feel relieved. At least it wasn't because he didn't want to divorce Daphne. However, she remained upset about the postponement of her plan to replace Daphne.
On the day Wilson and Daphne resubmitted their divorce application, Yvonne clung to Wilson, flirting.
"Wilson, I guess I'll have to wait another month. I'm afraid something will go wrong—"
"Afraid? What are you afraid of?"
Wilson often found Yvonne's thought process difficult to understand. After a pause, Yvonne stammered, "I'm afraid Ms. Yeager might change her mind. What if she regrets it? I'm also scared your mom might intervene again. Wilson, I'm so anxious and insecure—"
"She won't. What happened last time was an accident," Wilson replied, preoccupied with his work.
Feeling dejected, Yvonne murmured, "I just hope everything goes smoothly," then fell silent, staring at her ring.
