Chapter 116 Dream On

His slumbering countenance radiated an unusual tranquility, a stark contrast to his typical stern demeanor, enveloping the room in a gentle warmth.

Madelyn watched on, inexplicably finding the scene beautiful, and thus, couldnโ€™t bear to interrupt.

However, at that moment, Sebastian sensed some movement and opened his eyes.

โ€œYouโ€™re awake?โ€ Upon waking up and seeing Madelyn, Sebastian instantly sobered up. โ€œAre you feeling any better? Are you hungry?โ€

Madelyn felt a warm sensation in her heart.

She obediently nodded. โ€œYeah, Iโ€™m hungry.โ€

โ€œAll right, Iโ€™ll get you something to eat,โ€ Sebastian said as he rose from his seat. He walked over to the table and opened the freshly delivered food container that Lydia had just brought.

He poured some soup into the bowl.

Then he returned to her side, feeding her spoonful by spoonful.

Every time he fed her, he would always make sure to blow on it first, afraid that it might burn her.

Watching Sebastian take such meticulous care of her, Madelyn couldnโ€™t help but feel deeply moved.

Her eyes welled up, tears nearly spilling into her bowl.

But still, she tilted her head back and held it back.

After finishing her meal, Madelyn felt significantly more energized.

She moved around a bit and felt her limbs were quite nimble.

โ€œSebastian, I think Iโ€™ve recovered enough. Thereโ€™s no need to stay in the hospital. How about we go home?โ€

โ€œNo,โ€ Sebastian disagreed.

Despite the doctorโ€™s assurance that she was all right, he remained apprehensive.

โ€œLetโ€™s stay another day just to observe. If youโ€™re truly recovered by tomorrow, we can arrange discharge then,โ€ Sebastian calmly suggested.

Madelyn understood that Sebastian was expressing his concern for her,

After some thought, she agreed.

Sebastian stood up and began to clean up the dishes.

Madelyn quietly watched him, her mind involuntarily recalling the events of the day. She remembered how he had arrived at the warehouse, appearing like a god descending from the heavens in her hour of need.

However, he had appeared just in the nick of time, and he had saved her.

Madelyn found her heart irresistibly stirred.

This man, whether in her past life or in this one, had always devoted himself entirely to protecting her.

Every time she found herself in peril, he was always there by her side, warding off any danger that threatened her.

She remembered reading a fairy tale once.

Legend had it that a compassionate celestial being gifted a small whistle to a little girl whose life was filled with hardship. He told her that whenever she found herself in peril, all she needed to do was blow the whistle, and he would come to her aid.

Madelyn felt that Sebastian was akin to that celestial being.

He was always there for her, lighting her way in the darkness, shielding her from the rain. Whenever she needed him, he was there without fail.

How could I have been so blind in my previous life! I failed to appreciate his goodness. In this life, I must not miss him.

Madelyn looked at Sebastian. Unable to control her emotions, she stood up, moved toward him, and wrapped her arms around his waist.

Then, she gently kissed his lips.

Sebastian instantly became rigid.

Madelyn was clearly aware of it, but she didnโ€™t pay much heed. She continued to kiss him.

Her kiss, though unpracticed, held a certain endearing charm.

Sebastian could clearly sense Madelynโ€™s enthusiasm.

In an instant, the pent-up passion within him was suddenly ignited.

He held Madelynโ€™s body tightly with one arm, supporting her head with the other. He turned the tables, initiating a passionate advance.

The two were lost in a passionate kiss, their lips and tongues intertwined.

This kiss was sweet and lingering.

Just as Madelyn was getting lost in the moment, ready to take things a step further, Sebastian regained his senses and stopped.

โ€œWeโ€™re in the hospital,โ€ he said and let go of her waist. โ€œYou should focus on getting some rest. We can discuss everything else once we get back home.โ€

Madelynโ€™s cheeks flushed. She had almost forgotten that they were in a hospital.

Upon his reminder, she bashfully lowered her head, returned to the bed, and blissfully drifted off to sleep.

The next morning, Derek, along with Regina and Eunice, hurried over carrying a heap of gifts.

โ€œDad,โ€ Madelyn cheerfully called out as soon as Derek walked through the door.

Sebastian was also there. โ€œDad.โ€

Derek gave a slight nod, then promptly moved forward. He expressed his concern, asking, โ€œMaddie, are you all right? Are you hurt anywhere?โ€

A warmth spread through Madelynโ€™s heart. Knowing Derek must have been terribly worried, she chuckled and said, โ€œDad, donโ€™t worry. Iโ€™m fine.โ€

โ€œIโ€™m glad to hear that,โ€ Derek said in relief.

โ€œExactly, seeing youโ€™re all right, we can rest easy,โ€ Regina suddenly chimed in from behind.

Upon hearing this voice, Madelyn found it nothing but grating.

With immediate displeasure, she turned to Regina and Eunice. โ€œWhy are you two here?โ€

Regina was noticeably taken aback for a moment.

โ€œMadelyn, what are you saying? We are, after all, family. We came to see you out of concern, yet you seem less than thrilled to see us.โ€

โ€œI am not thrilled to see you,โ€ Madelyn retorted without mincing her words.

โ€œYou!โ€ Regina was instantly left speechless.

Given that Madelyn was ill, she forced a smile and said, โ€œItโ€™s all right as long as youโ€™re okay.โ€

Madelyn sneered inwardly. How pretentious!

Meanwhile, Euniceโ€™s eyes lit up when she saw Sebastian.

She stepped forward and said coquettishly, โ€œSebastian, itโ€™s been a while.โ€

Sebastian gave Eunice a cold glance. Out of courtesy, he simply nodded but paid her no further attention. Upon seeing his indifference, Eunice couldnโ€™t help but step closer. โ€œSebastian, why are you ignoring me?โ€ At that moment, a potent scent of lavender hit Madelynโ€™s nose.

She couldnโ€™t help but frown, covering her nose. โ€œEunice, youโ€™re visiting a sick person. Why are you wearing such strong perfume? Are you trying to suffocate me? Those who know would think youโ€™re here to visit the sick, but those who donโ€™t might think youโ€™re trying to attract attention!โ€

After speaking, Madelyn deliberately coughed twice.

The words spoken were both subtle and blunt, clearly aimed at Eunice.

Madelyn was well aware of what was running through her mind.

Thinking of hitting on Sebastian? Ha, dream on!

Upon hearing these words, Regina immediately became dissatisfied.

โ€œMadelyn, what is your problem? Youโ€™re hurt, and your sister and I came to see you out of concern. But not only were you not welcoming, you even spoke such words. Is this how a big sister should behave?โ€

Eunice added aggrievedly, โ€œYeah, Madelyn, I heard you were hurt and rushed over to see you. Why are you treating me like this?โ€

For a moment, the mother and daughter were in perfect harmony, appearing utterly innocent.
