With that thought in mind, Sebastian couldn’t help but wrap his arms around Madelyn’s waist. He then cast his gaze down at her, his voice deep and serious. “Madelyn, something’s off about you today.”

Madelyn was taken aback. She immediately laughed it off. “What do you mean? There’s nothing wrong with me.”

“No?” Sebastian scoffed coldly, his hand, which was resting on her waist, involuntarily tightened. “Why are you so keen on getting close to me today, trying to get chummy with me? What exactly are you trying to achieve? What game are you playing? Or is there some ulterior motive?” Sebastian sternly interrogated.

Seeing him like that, Madelyn knew she couldn’t keep her secret any longer. Hence, she was left with no choice but to chuckle awkwardly. “Y–You’ve noticed, haven’t you?!”

Upon hearing those words, Sebastian furrowed his brow, feeling as if he had been played. He was somewhat displeased.

Madelyn quickly tried to soothe him, gently stroking his face. In a placating tone, she said, “Oh, Sebastian, don’t be angry, all right? I’m at fault, okay?”

“You wouldn’t believe it, but Janessa has always had her eyes on you. Every time she looks at you, it’s as if her eyes light up,” Madelyn explained, sounding quite aggrieved. “I just didn’t want to see her pining for you. That’s why I called you out today, to make it clear to her about our relationship, hoping she would finally give up on you.”

After she finished speaking, Madelyn lowered her head in apology, whispering, “I’m sorry….” The sight of it was inexplicably endearing. Sebastian hadn’t expected that her attentiveness today was solely due to this reason. Yet, he couldn’t fully trust her. Was she telling the truth? Could it be that she was playing games with him again?

With that in mind, he couldn’t help but voice his doubt. “Is everything you just said really true?”

“Of course it’s true!” Upon hearing this, Madelyn lifted her head to look at him. Her eyes glistened as if stars were twinkling within them.

“I swear, every word I’ve spoken is the truth,” she declared. “You can say whatever you want about me, but I simply can’t stand the sight of others harboring intentions toward you. Is that wrong?”

Madelyn then stared at him blatantly. Upon hearing those words, Sebastian couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow, seemingly taken aback. The corners of her mouth were slightly pursed, yet there seemed to be a hint of subtle defiance.

Seeing her in such a state, Sebastian suddenly felt as if he was under a spell. Unable to resist, he leaned in, brushing a fleeting kiss against her lips.

Madelyn’s eyes widened in surprise. Who would have thought that Sebastian would kiss her? Yet the warmth that emanated from her lips clearly conveyed to her that all of this was indeed real. This was nothing short of an unexpected windfall! Quickly, the kiss was over.
