The two of them then grabbed a quick dinner at a nearby restaurant.

Whenever he ordered or paid the bill, people around them would look on with envy. Some even openly complimented them, calling them a truly handsome couple, a match made in heaven.

Madelyn, too, enjoyed being in the spotlight.

The sky had turned completely dark after dinner, but Madelyn refused to go home.

Instead, she ended up dragging Sebastian out for a stroll.

At seven and nine in the evening, the city center thrived with activity.

After work, families strolled with their children and pets, while numerous small stalls and vendors bustled with business. As they walked, a promoter handed Madelyn a flyer advertising wedding photography services, eliciting a bashful smile from her.

The streets reverberated with lively music, creating a chaotic yet vibrant atmosphere.

Nearly everyone wore a smile, to varying degrees, and Madelyn was no exception.

She cherished the warmth and sense of security Sebastian exuded, despite his reserved nature.

“Sebastian, look! That looks interesting!” Madelyn suddenly exclaimed in excitement.

With those words, she darted ahead, moving so swiftly that even Sebastian struggled to keep pace.

He had no choice but to quicken his steps to follow closely behind.

Madelyn dashed up to a street artist, her excitement palpable.

The street artist wielded an intricate tool, effortlessly conjuring a massive, multicolored bubble with a casual flick of his wrist.

The bubble expanded to a remarkable size, capable of enveloping a person completely.

Suddenly, the surroundings erupted with applause.

For the first time, Madelyn witnessed such a spectacle, her heart brimming with curiosity.

Filled with excitement, she stepped forward and asked, “Can I try?”

“Of course!” The street artist nodded enthusiastically in agreement.

Overwhelmed with excitement, Madelyn steadied herself and stood still.

The street artist then casually waved his hand with his tool and enveloped Madelyn in a bubble.

Madelyn was instantly stunned, her astonishment evident as she watched him perform.

Meanwhile, Sebastian stood nearby, observing her. She appeared as joyful as a child, and seeing this, a soft smile quietly formed on his lips.

She ordered several glasses of whiskey in one go, but no matter how much she consumed, she remained sober.

Janessa let out a somewhat desolate laugh, her mind involuntarily flashing back to the day’s events. The image of Sebastian and Madelyn kissing suddenly surfaced, causing a sharp pang in her heart.

“B*tch!” Suddenly, Janessa yelled, knocking over all the drinks on the bar counter.

Her outburst startled the people nearby, prompting them to quickly distance themselves from her.

At that moment, Christopher approached.

Seeing the mess all over the place and her disheveled appearance, he asked with a smile, “What’s the matter? Feeling down? Do you need me to keep you company?”

Upon hearing the words, Janessa lifted her head, only to see Christopher. His presence intensified her frustration.

In a fit of anger, she exclaimed, “Didn’t you swear that you would win over Madelyn? Why haven’t you succeeded yet?”

Christopher, intending to comfort her, was taken aback by Janessa’s sharp tone.

Her words stung, and he, too, responded angrily, “Don't you dare speak to me in that tone, Janessa Sherritt!”

Janessa snorted, not holding back her furious tirade. “Did I say anything wrong? You boasted that you would win over Madelyn, but what’s the outcome? You’re nothing but a braggart – a good-for-nothing!”

“Are you any better than me?” Christopher retorted, his voice shaking with a mix of embarrassment and rage. The color instantly drained from his face.

He chuckled and remarked sarcastically, “You think you’re good at scheming, but what have you achieved? You’re just playing dirty tricks behind people’s backs. Why don’t you ask yourself if Sebastian has paid you any attention?”

“How dare you!” Janessa exploded with rage, even though deep down, she knew Christopher was telling the truth.

No matter how dazzlingly she dressed, Sebastian would not bother to spare her a glance.

“One more thing, Janessa,” Christopher added bluntly. “Don’t treat me like your lapdog. You and I are in this together. What I do is my own business, so get off your high horse!”

Janessa was left utterly speechless.

In the end, they had no choice but to place all the blame on Madelyn. “No, this isn’t our fault. It’s all Madelyn’s fault. She has changed! After observing her for some time, I’ve realized Madelyn’s personality has completely transformed. She’s beyond our control now.”

Upon hearing this Christopher let out a derisive chuckle. “You might as well say that she has finally come to her senses. She changed because she has seen your true colors. Janessa, you’ve always treated Madelyn as a fool, but she’s not as foolish as you think. You just overestimated your own intelligence.”

His last sentence was like a knife to her heart.

Janessa had to admit that Christopher was right.

All along, she had treated Madelyn like a fool and deceived her at every turn.

Now, it was clear that Madelyn no longer wished to play the fool.

Yet, Janessa was still puzzled. “If she knew I was out to harm her, why would she still choose to stay so close to me?”

Even Christopher couldn’t figure that out. “I wonder why Madelyn is willing to maintain her friendship with Janessa. Could it be because she still holds onto the hope that Janessa might change, considering their long-standing friendship?”

Meanwhile, the image of Sebastian and Madelyn kissing surfaced in Janessa’s mind again. She could no longer contain her frustration.

Janessa gritted her teeth and said, “Christopher, I can’t wait any longer. Can you think of a way to help me? I want Madelyn to completely disappear from Sebastian’s life! Her disappearance would benefit both you and me too.”

Sensing her urgency, Christopher couldn’t help but scoff, saying dismissively, “I have an idea, but the question is, how do you want to execute it?"

“Really? What’s your plan?” Janessa’s eyes brightened with hope upon hearing that Christopher had a solution in mind. “I’m willing to do anything to get back at Madelyn!”

Christopher decided to stop beating around the bush. “All right, calm down. If we want to deal with Madelyn, we first need to lure her into meeting us. I have a plan to handle her after that.”

After hearing these words, Janessa pondered for a moment. Trick her?

She couldn’t help but feel deflated. “But she doesn’t trust me anymore. I doubt it would be that easy to trick her.”

“Of course, I knew it wouldn’t be easy to trick her now but I have a tip for you,” Christopher said, flashing a smirk.

Upon hearing his words, Janessa looked at him, her face full of confusion.

Christopher explained, “From what I know, Madelyn has been quite close to Jillian recently. Why not use this information to your advantage?”
