Chapter 151 Trust Me
Upon hearing this, Wesley arrogantly turned his head away, letting out a cold huff. โDonโt ask me. I donโt know.โ
โWesley, you have to speak up,โ Madelyn reluctantly pleaded.
โIโve already told you I donโt know. What else do you expect me to say?โ Wesley remained stubbornly silent.
Madelyn was utterly exasperated. However, even if Wesley hadnโt said anything, she was certain in her heart that Sebastian had gone to find Christopher.
Madelyn simply shrugged, too indifferent to ask any further. โFine. Go keep the pretty ladies company and stop blocking the way.โ
After speaking, she unceremoniously pushed Wesley aside and proceeded to walk toward the door.
โHey!โ Wesley was so frustrated that he could have stomped his foot right there on the spot. This girl actually pushed me away. Does she really not regard me with any importance at all?
Madelyn walked straight out of the banquet hall. At that moment, all she wanted was to find Sebastian as quickly as possible. Without a doubt, this must be Janessaโs work. Moreover, itโs highly likely that she has gone along with Sebastian! Since she has followed him, that means theyโll be together.
The mere thought of leaving the two of them alone together was enough to give Madelyn a massive headache. She simply couldnโt stand it.
Consequently, unable to resist her emotions, she quickened her pace, striding toward the door.
After all the hassle, Wesley no longer had the mood to flirt with girls.
He said to the ladies directly, โI apologize, but I need to step away for a bit due to some matters.โ
A few beauties instantly looked at him with reluctance. โMr. Gilbertโฆ donโt leave.โ
Wesley merely chuckled, ignoring the situation entirely as he turned his back and walked away.
Those ladies were nobodies, and Wesley had always been clear about this. Naturally, he didnโt linger for long.
Following that, Wesley promptly went after Madelyn.
Meanwhile, Sebastian had just stepped out of Lockhart Manor.
Due to his long legs, his strides were quite large. Janessa, in her high heels, had to jog along just to barely keep up with him. She found herself calling out, โSebastian, slow down! Wait for me.โ
Sebastian ignored her, his thoughts incessantly replaying Janessaโs words from earlier.
The mere thought of Madelyn, all tense and nervous by Christopherโs bedside, was like a taut string in his mind, on the brink of snapping.
One voice was telling him to find Madelyn to bring her back, not letting her shed tears over any other man.
The other one was telling him to let Madelyn go and not make a fool out of himself. If she cared for you, she wouldnโt have abandoned such a grand banquet for Christopher. If she doesnโt care for you, you wonโt be able to win her.
Two thoughts wrestled within his heart for a long time.
In the end, it was the pessimistic one who emerged victorious.
Yes. Even if I go, whatโs the point? Once I arrive at the hospital and see her worrying about another man, itโll only serve to fuel my anger. At that point, thereโs no telling what I might do in my uncontrolled rage. A shadow passed over Sebastianโs gaze.
At this point, Janessa caught up, feigning consolation. โSebastian, donโt be upset. I believe that Madelyn isnโt that kind of person. After all, she is your wife. Although itโs true that sheโs always had a fondness for Christopherโฆโ
Suddenly, Sebastian cast a profound glance at Janessa.
In a flustered rush, Janessa corrected herself, saying, โThatโs not what I meant. Iโm trying to say that, after all, Madelynโs first love was Christopher. Hence, sheโs probably just worried, thatโs all.โ
At that moment, Madelyn was just leaving Lockhart Manor.
From a distance, she saw Janessa engaged in conversation with Sebastian. A cold laugh echoed in her heart, Just as I suspected! Janessa, you truly are despicable.
Madelyn was not about to let her get her way.
Under the moonlight, a slender shadow suddenly dashed forward, fiercely embracing Sebastian from behind.
โSebastian, how come youโre here? Iโve been looking for you for so long,โ Madelyn said, her voice tinged with a hint of grievance. She rested her face against Sebastianโs back.
Sebastian suddenly stiffened all over.
At that moment, Janessaโs face suddenly took on an expression akin to having seen a ghost. โMadelyn, what are you doing here?โ
Sebastian also quickly turned around.
Madelyn looked utterly innocent as she said, โIf all of you can be here, why canโt I?โ
โDidnโt youโฆ.โ Janessa found herself puzzled. Didnโt she leave to look for Christopher? Just a moment ago, she was in such a hurry, as if she couldnโt wait to sprint to the hospital! Why is she standing here now as if nothingโs happened?
At that moment, Sebastian found himself looking at Madelyn, surprisingly at a loss for words.
Just moments ago, he was so upset that he nearly lost control, ready to rush to the hospital to bring her back. However, she suddenly showed up behind him.
After speaking, she pointed at Janessa and added. โI was worried you wouldnโt be able to find me, so I had Janessa relay the message to you. What? Didnโt she tell you?โ
Madelyn had an air about her, much like an innocent child oblivious to the world, compelling one to believe her.
Janessa was suddenly at a loss for words.
In a rush, she said. โMadelyn, you didnโt tell me you were going to the bathroom. Also, when did you ask me to speak with Sebastian?โ
No sooner had the words left her mouth than Janessa felt Sebastianโs icy gaze. It looked so cold, and it sent chills down her spine.
Janessa couldnโt help but feel a bit scared and hurriedly explained, โSebastian, I really didnโt know, Madelyn, you clearly didnโt say that just now. Why would you lie? Sebastian, you have to believe me.โ
โJanessa, what are you talking about? I donโt understand. Didnโt I tell you I was going to the bathroom and asked you to pass the message to Sebastian?โ Madelyn feigned confusion.
After that, with an innocent look on her face, she turned toward Sebastian. โSebastian, what exactly did Janessa tell you? She didnโt say anything she shouldnโt have, did she? Also, how did you two end up here? You made me search high and low for you. My feet are sore from these high heels.โ
As Madelyn spoke, there was a hint of grievance in her voice.
A pang of pain struck Sebastianโs heart when he heard that.
He then cast a deep glance at Janessa. โMs. Sherritt?โ
Clearly, Janessa had not anticipated that things would turn out like this.
Feeling a sudden rush of anxiety, Janessa asked angrily, โMadelyn, didnโt you just tell me that Christopher was in a car accident and is in the hospital? Werenโt you going to visit him?โ
Upon hearing those words, Madelyn immediately feigned confusion, her eyes wide with innocence. โJanessa, why are you making things up?โ
โIโm not making things up! You clearly said it yourself!โ Janessa was filled with frustration.
Madelyn, however, adamantly denied it, saying, โWhen did I ever say I was going to visit Christopher?
Today is my grandmaโs birthday, and itโs such a significant day. As a daughterโinโlaw of the Lockhart family, itโs only natural that I stay at the banquet. Janessa, donโt spout nonsense!โ
