After Madelyn spent a night in the hospital, her headache had finally subsided. The muddled thoughts finally dissipated, leaving behind a clear mind.

Madelyn was feeling much better, although she barely slept that night. An inexplicable restlessness gripped her heart. Her mind was in chaos, like a tangled ball of thread without a start or end.

Madelyn spent most of the night deep in thought, finally realizing why she was feeling so out of sorts. Everything was related to the memories of her past life.

The sunlight streaming in through the window brightened the hospital room, enhancing the clean appearance of the already white space. At that moment, Sebastian walked in through the door, carrying a blue thermos flask. Upon seeing Madelyn awake, he heaved a sigh of relief. “Feeling better?”

“Much better now,” Madelyn obediently nodded.

Then, Sebastian walked over to the table and gently placed the blue thermos flask down. As he opened it, a waft of warmth instantly escaped from within. Then, Sebastian helped Madelyn to sit up. He took out a steaming bowl of oatmeal from the thermos flask and sat by Madelyn’s bedside. He scooped up a spoonful, gently blew on it to cool it down, then brought the spoon to Madelyn’s lips. “Have something to eat.”

“Right, Sebastian,” As if suddenly recalling something, Madelyn asked with a tense expression, “Didn’t you mention yesterday that you were going on an overseas business trip? Are you heading to Rodunst?”

“How did you know?” asked Sebastian, a hint of surprise crossing his features. After all, aside from Wesley and Harriet, he hadn’t yet mentioned his business trip abroad to anyone else.

“No, it’s nothing.” Madelyn hastily shook her head, regaining her composure.

In the next moment, she suddenly tightened her grip on Sebastian’s hand and looked at him with a face full of reluctance. “Sebastian, can you possibly not leave the country?”

“Don’t worry. I’ll only be gone for two days. I’ll be back before you know it.”

Sebastian thought she was having a hard time letting go, so he gently comforted her.

“Don’t! Please don’t leave the country, okay?” Madelyn suddenly pleaded, her expression becoming frantic and helpless.

“Why?” Sebastian found her behavior a bit odd.

“It’s nothing.” Madelyn shook her head. Of course, she wouldn’t share the memories of her past life with him. Hence, she simply came up with an excuse.

“I just think that we’ve only recently gotten engaged. Our honeymoon isn’t even over yet, so why should we be so far apart? Moreover, if you leave, what do I do when I miss you? I can’t just fly over to Rodun to find you. It’s so tough. So, could you please stay home with me instead of going out?” Madelyn pleaded carefully.

When Sebastian saw the earnest look on her face as she pleaded for him to stay, he felt touched. However, the situation overseas was severe. This time, he feared he had no choice but to make the trip himself.

Madelyn looked at Sebastian, yearning to warn him of the impending danger. Yet, she found herself unable to utter a word. In the end, all she could do was plead again. “Sebastian, could you please stay with me? Besides, don’t you have so many subordinates to handle your work? Why do you need to involve yourself personally? Can’t you just delegate it to them?”

After she had finished speaking, Madelyn suddenly hugged Sebastian tightly. “Promise me that you won’t go. Please?”

This embrace came so unexpectedly that Sebastian couldn’t help but stiffen all over. What was up with her? Why did she seem so off today?

Despite everything, he still had to go abroad. After all, Sebastian couldn’t just ignore the crisis in his company.

In the end, all Sebastian could do was gently reassure her. “Your headache has just subsided, so try not to overthink. I’ll handle everything. You don’t have to worry. Just rest at home and wait for me, okay?”

After multiple checks, Madelyn was finally assured that there was nothing unusual with her brain. She managed to be discharged from the hospital in the afternoon. Sebastian drove her back to Lockhart Villa before heading to the company. Having had a restless night, Madelyn went straight to bed and fell into a deep sleep as soon as she got home. She slept for four hours straight. When she woke up again, it was already evening.

Madelyn had initially thought that Sebastian would have returned. He was probably downstairs in the living room, having dinner or watching the news. Upon arrival, she discovered that Sebastian had not returned. Unable to suppress her confusion, she glanced at the wall clock. Why hasn’t he returned yet? It’s getting quite late.

At that moment, it seemed as if Lydia immediately saw through Madelyn’s thoughts. She walked over and said, “Mrs. Lockhart, Mr. Lockhart mentioned when he left for the company that he would likely be working late due to a meeting. Therefore, he suggested that you not wait for him and have your dinner first.”
