Reborn to My Engagement Night Chapter 174 Have No Shame

Almost simultaneously, Sebastian and Madelyn frowned.

Meanwhile, Marsha was thrilled to see Harriet, as if she had stumbled upon a treasure. โ€œHarriet?โ€

โ€œMdm. Marsha, youโ€™re here too?โ€ When Harriet entered, a hint of a smile finally graced her icy countenance.

โ€œOh my, Harriet, when did you return? Why didnโ€™t you let me know?โ€ Marsha said, stepping forward excitedly and swiftly grabbing Harrietโ€™s wrist.

Harriet also chuckled, holding Marshaโ€™s hand. โ€œIโ€™ve been quite swamped lately, so I didnโ€™t get the chance to inform you about it. I was planning on catching up with you after I was done with all the work.โ€

โ€œItโ€™s all right. Iโ€™m glad as long as youโ€™re back!โ€ Marsha exclaimed joyfully.

Madelyn was speechless as she watched that scene unfold. How come these two are behaving like a mother and daughter meeting again after many years apart? The only thing missing is someone kneeling, tears, and a heart-wrenching soundtrack to accompany the scene.

At that moment, Sebastian turned his gaze toward Harriet, his expression aloof. โ€œWhat brings you here?โ€

โ€œOh, I came to deliver the documents,โ€ Harriet spoke as she opened her backpack.

She pulled out two documents from within and handed them to Sebastian.

โ€œHere are some crucial documents about the overseas company that I sorted out last night,โ€ Harriet calmly stated. โ€œI specifically brought them over for you to review.โ€

Sebastian, however, did not reach out to take the documents. Instead, he said indifferently. โ€œUnderstood. Just leave them on the desk.โ€

Harriet immediately felt awkward, but she could only obey.

At that moment, Marsha, standing nearby, couldnโ€™t help but compliment Harriet. โ€œHarriet, youโ€™re still just as I remember, so dedicated and committed to your work. Sebastian is truly fortunate to have met you.โ€

Her attitude toward Harriet was starkly different from how she treated Madelyn.

It was as though one of the young women was her own, while the other she picked up somewhere.

Madelyn felt a slight twinge of dissatisfaction but didnโ€™t say anything.

Subsequently, Marsha suddenly suggested, โ€œHarriet, you probably havenโ€™t had breakfast yet, right? How about staying here and joining me for breakfast?โ€

What? Upon hearing those words, Madelyn paled. I painstakingly prepared all this specifically for Seb! This is not a free tasting for them!

Madelyn sighed, relenting. โ€œAll right then. Stay and have breakfast with us. By the way, I still owe you thanks for bringing Sebastian back home that night.โ€

Right after that, Madelyn went straight to the point, asking, โ€œMs. Moore, I must thank you for sending Sebastian home the other night after he had too much to drink. However, I must ask, are you aware of the lipstick mark on his neck?โ€

Upon hearing that, Harriet felt as if she had been struck by lightning, her whole body stiffening.

โ€œOh, you know what, itโ€™s pointless for me to ask. How would you know anyway?โ€ Madelyn said, chuckling with a hint of self-mockery.

โ€œHowever, if you happen to hang out with Sebastian again, I hope you can keep an eye on him for me. After all, there is a bevy of beauties out there, and I certainly donโ€™t want any other woman to get a chance with him.โ€ Madelynโ€™s words were nothing but a veiled mockery aimed at Harriet.

Sure enough, embarrassment flashed across Harrietโ€™s countenance. She quickly nodded. โ€œI will.โ€

At that moment, Sebastian stared at Harriet with a deep look.

He knew what happened that day, but he didnโ€™t expose her because they still had to work together in the future.

Making things worse at that critical juncture would bring only harm and no benefits.

The person who reacted most strongly was Marsha.

When she heard about the lipstick mark, she was enraged. โ€œWomen these days really lack self-respect and dignity. Do they have any sense of shame at all?โ€

โ€œMom, calm down,โ€ Madelyn said, tugging at Marshaโ€™s sleeve.

โ€œI canโ€™t calm down. I just canโ€™t. Harriet, Iโ€™m entrusting this to you. You must look after Sebastian when youโ€™re with him out there. Consider it a favor for me, okay?โ€ Marsha requested earnestly.

Meanwhile, Harriet was struggling to control her expression.

After all, she was the one who left the mark on Sebastianโ€™s collar.

โ€œAll right, letโ€™s put this matter behind us and not bring it up again," Sebastian intervened, speaking in a calm tone. "After we finish eating, Madelyn will head to campus while Iโ€™ll head to the office. You two should return to your respective places.โ€

The others could only nod in agreement.

Madelyn took a sip of her milk and lowered her head to eat a piece of bacon. Deep down, she was unhappy. Why does it feel like Sebastian is intentionally protecting Harriet?

After breakfast, Marsha had also said pretty much everything she intended to. Naturally, she didnโ€™t plan on staying there much longer.

Rising, she turned to Harriet and said, โ€œHarriet, itโ€™s been quite a while since youโ€™ve been back home. Now that youโ€™re here, why donโ€™t you accompany me for a stroll? I have a few things Iโ€™d like to discuss with you.โ€

Upon hearing that, Harriet turned toward Sebastian as though seeking his approval.

After all, she understood why Marsha disliked her. The things she had done in the past were indeed too outrageous.

Following that, the group parted ways.

Marsha and Harriet shared a heart-to-heart conversation, while Madelyn entered Sebastianโ€™s car.

The coupleโ€™s schedule remained the same. First, Sebastian dropped her off at the campus, then he returned to his company.

While on the road, the atmosphere in the car abruptly shifted, becoming somewhat peculiar. Sebastian, finally unable to contain himself, furrowed his brow and asked, โ€œWhy are you still in touch with Josiah?โ€

Sebastian knew Maxton was merely Madelynโ€™s coach and wouldnโ€™t suspect him.

However, Josiah elicited an inexplicable discomfort in Sebastianโ€™s heart. He always felt that the bond between Josiah and Madelyn was not as superficial as that of ordinary friends.

Also, Sebastian thought that was the end of Josiahโ€™s and Madelynโ€™s relationship after they all left the street race.

As such, he was surprised to learn the two remained in contact and was bothered by that.

โ€œL...โ€œ Madelyn was momentarily flustered.

She was already grateful that Sebastian hadnโ€™t exposed her earlier, so when he questioned her, she immediately confessed everything. โ€œActually, I happened to run into Josiah. I saw him being bullied, so I stepped in to help him with Coach Wendel. I swear, thereโ€™s nothing more than friendship between Josiah and me. Weโ€™re really only friends.โ€

After saying that, Madelyn looked at Sebastian with a sincere expression. โ€œSebastian, please trust me. Youโ€™re the only one in my heart.โ€

โ€œIs that so?โ€ Upon hearing those words, he smirked with distrust. โ€œCan I believe what youโ€™re saying?โ€
