Chapter 180 Do Not Make A Fuss
โAlright, goodnight, Dad.โ
After Madelyn finished speaking, she cheerfully led Sebastian downstairs, oblivious to the fact that he was lost in his thoughts.
Did Madelyn just sayโฆ she wants to marry me? Could I have heard wrongโฆ
Unfortunately, Madelyn didnโt catch the complex expression on Sebastianโs face. At that moment, all she could think of was getting home quickly and letting Sebastian rest.
He has been working overtime every day for a while now and must be really tired.
However, Sebastian was completely consumed by thoughts of marriage. The words she had spoken earlier were echoing in his mind, just like an obsessionโฆ.
However, his thoughts were swiftly interrupted by a phone call.
Sebastian pulled out his phone from his pocket. On the screen, the name โHarrietโ was flashing.
Madelyn naturally noticed it, too, and couldnโt help the hint in her eyes, followed by her clearing her throat.
For a moment, the atmosphere turned somewhat awkward and eerie.
Sebastian knew that Madelyn didnโt really like Harriet. In fact, one could even say she had a slight aversion toward her.
Harriet was in charge of the projects overseas. Thus, even though Sebastian could ignore her on a personal level, he couldnโt avoid dealing with her for work.
So, after a moment of hesitation, he still answered the call.
Harrietโs soft voice came through. โSebastian, thereโs been progress on the matter of the companyโs system being compromised.โ
Sebastianโs brows immediately furrowed.
Glancing back at Madelyn, he quietly stepped awayโconsidering some matters were company secretsโbefore asking, โWhat happened?โ
At that moment, Madelyn was observing the secretive exchange between Sebastian and Harriet, feeling a great deal of irritation.
Harriet is truly insufferable!
However, even though Madelyn was upset, there was nothing she could do about it.
After all, Harrietโs capabilities were truly remarkable, far beyond what Madelyn was currently capable of.
Taking the matters of the company as an example, Sebastian had been run off his feet these past few days. All these were things Madelyn simply couldnโt do.
Every time Madelyn thought about these things, her heart swelled with jealousy toward Harriet.
No. I canโt allow this anymore.
Suddenly, Madelyn made up her mind. She was determined to work hard and become better.
From then on, she didnโt want any other women to come close to Sebastian, even if it was for work.
After hanging up the phone, Sebastian returned to Madelynโs side. Acting as if nothing had happened, he opened the car door.
โGet in the car. Weโre heading home.โ
Though Madelyn still minded what happened, she found herself at a loss for words and obediently climbed into the car.
In a short while, the two of them arrived at Lockhart Villa.
As Madelyn stepped inside and put on her slippers, she immediately turned to Sebastian and said, โSebastian, youโve had a long day. Why donโt you go take a bath and rest first? Iโll take mine after youโre done.โ
Sebastian simply nodded, then went off to wash up first.
After Sebastian had finished bathing, Madelyn stepped into the bathroom to shower.
By the time she returned to the bed, Sebastian was already sound asleep.
Heโs probably exhaustedโฆ Madelyn thought, feeling a pang of sympathy.
Following that, she also crawled underneath the quilt, nestling tightly in Sebastianโs arms, while her cheek rested against his chest.
Listening to his strong heartbeat, Madelyn inexplicably felt at ease before falling into a deep sleep.
The following morning, at daybreak, Sebastian was abruptly awakened by the persistent ring of his phone.
In the quiet room, the sound of the mobile phone was particularly jarring.
He picked up the phone, noticing it was his assistant calling. In a sleepy voice, he asked, โWhatโs up?โ
Malcolmโs voice was filled with urgency. โMr. Lockhart, we just received news that thereโs been a slight mishap with our overseas projects. You might need to travel abroad immediately to deal with it!โ
Upon hearing these words, Sebastian snapped to attention. โWhat time are we leaving?โ
โYour flight has been booked. Ms. Moore and Mr. Gilbert will meet you at the airport in two hours,โ Malcolm said with utmost professionalism.
Sebastian nodded. โUnderstood.โ
At some point, Madelyn had awakened without him realizing. Upon hearing that Sebastian was about to leave, she quickly grabbed onto his clothes. โWhere are you going? I want to come too!โ
Sebastian replied candidly. โIโm going abroad.โ
โWhat?โ Madelyn was instantly taken aback, asking, โDidnโt you say you still had half a month last time? Why do you suddenlyโฆโ
โThe situation is rather critical,โ Sebastian explained as he slipped on his coat.
Upon hearing this, Madelyn quickly stood up. โIn that case, Iโm coming along with you!โ
Sebastian immediately stopped what he was doing.
Seeing that there was no time left to explain, he reluctantly turned back and gently patted her head, attempting to soothe her. โSweetheart, this is business. Donโt make a fuss.โ
โIโm not joking. Iโm serious,โ Madelyn said, looking at him earnestly.
Seeing Sebastianโs serious expression, she hesitantly asked, โSoโฆ who else is going with you?โ
โMalcolm, Wesley, and Harriet,โ Sebastian replied succinctly.
โOhโฆโ Upon hearing those words, Madelyn responded in dejection.
As she watched Sebastian finish dressing, Madelyn suddenly felt a pang of sadness.
Finally, she couldnโt help herself. With a pained expression, she timidly asked, โSebastian, am I really not allowed to go with you?โ
Her voice was utterly pitiful.
After Sebastian had finished dressing, he turned around to see her wearing a pitiful expression, as if she had suffered a great injustice. His heart couldnโt help but soften.
Sebastian finally asked, โDo you really want to go?โ
โAbsolutely!โ Madelyn affirmed, nodding resolutely.
Sebastian really couldnโt bear to see her upset, so he eventually relented. โHurry up and pack. Weโre leaving soon.โ
Upon hearing those words, Madelynโs eyes widened.
Then, as if invigorated by his answer, she exclaimed, โOkay! Iโm on it!โ
Two hours later, when Sebastian arrived at the airport, Wesley and Harriet were already there waiting, ready to go.
From a distance, they saw that Sebastian was not alone. Right behind him was a little sidekick. It was none other than Madelyn.
In that instant, Wesleyโs face froze.
The color drained from Harrietโs face as she was left utterly speechless.
The only person who reacted normally was Malcolm.
Malcolm merely froze for a moment before quickly regaining his composure.
Technically speaking, Malcolm had already become accustomed to such a sight.
After all, having spent a considerable amount of time with Sebastian, he had come to understand the peculiarities of his wife.
Her unpredictable actions were so frequent that he was no longer surprised by them.
