Chapter 185 A Gentle Embrace
In a fit of rage, Grimo suddenly demanded, "Tell me, then! Who exactly destroyed my arsenal! Iโll take him down right now!"
The incident at Devil Pyramid had always been the deepest pain in Grimorheart. Even though Grimo acted as if he didnโt care, every time he thought about it, Grimo wished he could immediately apprehend the culprit and shoot him dead on the spot.
Upon seeing him in this state, Madelyn wasnโt surprised at all. In truth, she could comprehend Grimoโs feelings. After all, someone like him, who had long been treading the line of legality while maintaining a certain status, would inevitably possess a temperament that was somewhat volatile, even to the point of being extreme.
โItโs Violet,โ Madelyn said.
To everyoneโs surprise, upon hearing this, Grimo exploded in anger instantly. โWoman, I'm warning you, stop spouting nonsense!โ
Violet was Grimoโs most capable assistant. Over the years, Violet had helped him resolve countless problems. She was even willing to risk everything while devoting herself to him. As such, Grimo couldnโt possibly believe Madelyn when the latter said Violet was the one who set the arsenal on fire.
Fortunately, Madelyn had anticipated this. She knew that Grimo would certainly not believe the words of a stranger like herself so easily. She chuckled lightly and said, โGrimo, do you really think Iโd have the audacity to spout nonsense in front of you?โ
Clearly, no one would unless they had a death wish. Upon hearing the words, Grimoโs expression immediately became somewhat unpredictable. Madelyn knew that his heart had begun to waver slightly. However, this was far from enough.
Following that, Madelyn confidently stood up and said, โIf you think Iโm spouting nonsense, why not have someone investigate when you get back? I believe it wouldnโt be a difficult task for you, would it? Of course, letโs not forget about our deal.โ
She then paused briefly before continuing, โIf you find out that Iโm telling the truth, then Iโd appreciate it if you could meet me at Sweet Hotel tomorrow night at eight. My name is Madelyn Thornton. Oh, and of course, if you donโt trust me, youโre welcome to have someone keep an eye on me at the hotel. If the information I provided is incorrect, youโre completely free to deal with me in your own way. How does that sound?โ
After Madelyn finished speaking, she gave Grimo a relaxed smile. Her manner was dignified, not showingโฆ
Naturally, Grimo didnโt believe that Violet would betray him. However, Madelynโs expression was open and her tone was confident, making her seem far from deceitful. Moreover, no one dared to casually deceive Grimo, because that would undoubtedly be a death wish.
Grimo found himself somewhat skeptical, yet he nodded reluctantly. He ordered his men, โYou guys, escort this lady back, then keep a close watch on her near the hotel. Bruno, you must get to the bottom of this matter for me!โ
โUnderstood,โ a tall man standing nearby responded respectfully with a nod.
After leaving the club, Madelyn looked at the bizarrely lit streets and finally breathed a sigh of relief. She could only hope that things would go as she wished, without any unexpected surprises.
Following that, Madelyn made preparations to return to the hotel. Throughout the journey, Madelyn had shed all her black leather attire. By the time they reached the hotel, she had already returned to her daytime appearance.
At that very moment, the hotel was in complete chaos, akin to a disturbed beehive. Countless black-clad criminal police were scouring the hotel, while the streets were teeming with search squads. Madelyn was perplexed. As she walked into the hotel, she couldnโt help but wonder what was going on.
โOver there!โ Suddenly, Wesley spotted Madelyn, his gaze fixated on her intently.
Sebastian was worried because he couldnโt find her. But as he turned his head, sure enough, he saw her petite figure in the distance. In an instant, he strode over to her side, grasping her shoulders and meticulously checking her up and down, left and right, front and back. It was only then that Sebastian, still shaken, managed to ask, โAre you okay?โ
โIโm fine,โ Madelyn replied, not quite understanding what was going on.
โRelax, Sebastian! This girl is as resilient as a cockroach, so how could anything serious have happened to her? I suspect sheโs just been out and about! Who knows, she might have even snagged herself a handsome guy. Youโre just overly concerned about her, making a mountain out of a molehill!โ Wesley said as he walked over, his words laced with sarcasm and clear discontent.
He felt that his buddy was great in every aspect, except when it came to women, where he was hopelessly stubborn. As if him being stubbornly in love isnโt bad enough, he had to be infatuated with a woman like Madelynโฆ.
Madelyn let out a dismissive snort, paying no attention to Wesley. Holding the medicine in her hand, she simply told Sebastian, โI just went out to buy you some medicine.โ
After casting another glance at Wesley and Harriet, she said in a cold and detached tone, โItโs getting late. If you guys are done talking, then we should head back to our room so you can take your medicine and get some rest.โ
After she finished speaking, Madelyn didnโt wait for their responses. She immediately pulled Sebastian back into the room, without giving them a chance to reply. Her attitude was somewhat willful and arrogant.
Wesley was immediately filled with frustration. Standing his ground, he retorted in a haughty manner, โYou impudent girl! You have such a terrible attitude!โ
As Harriet watched the two figures intimately entwined, a chill seemed to settle in the depths of her eyes.
Upon returning to the room, Madelyn promptly fetched some water for Sebastian to take his medicine. After ensuring that the temperature of the water and the dosage of the medicine were just right, Madelyn placed the medicine before him and said coldly, โTake your medicine.โ
Sebastian remained silent, quietly taking his medicine without uttering another word. In his mind, he pondered that it had already been close to six hours since she left in the afternoon. Does it really take that long to buy some medicine? Clearly not!
However, Sebastian didnโt harbor much doubt. Perhaps she was upset and silently sulking all by herself outside.
โHave you cooled down a bit?โ he asked.
Upon hearing this, Madelyn immediately puckered her face. โWho said I was angry!โ
โReally? Youโre not angry?โ Sebastian asked, feeling rather skeptical. Her petite, delicate face was clearly etched with an expression of having been wronged.
In truth, Madelyn wasnโt angry. She simply didnโt take Wesleyโs words to heart. The one she was actually angry at was Sebastian. Despite being clearly ill, he completely disregarded his own well-being and was focused on nothing but work. But Sebastian was unaware that it hurt Madelyn to see him struggling like this.
โYou canโt continue working while youโre sick. Do you hear me? Do you have any idea how much it hurts me to see you working when youโre unwell?" Madelyn said, finally voicing her concern.
That was when Sebastian suddenly understood. So, that was why she was upsetโฆ He immediately pulled her into his arms, letting out a sigh of relief. โSince you donโt like it, I wonโt discuss work in the future, okay?!โ
No matter how much injustice or frustration she felt in her heart, it all melted away in this gentle embrace.
