Chapter 190: Why Did You Not Look Scared?
Respect myself? Hearing these words, Madelyn couldnโt help but burst into laughter. It seems like heโs quite the stickler for personal integrity.
She stopped teasing him and handed him the transfer agreement the leader of Hellfire Creed had written.
โThese mines were rightfully yours to begin with. Keep them safe. Once youโre home, make sure to take good care of your wounds.โ
A subtle curve appeared at the corner of Madelynโs mouth as she finished speaking. Then, she turned to Adelar and said, โWeโve had our fill of the excitement. Itโs time for us to leave.โ
With that, the group departed with great pomp, just like how they arrived.
Madelyn had never intended to reveal her true identity. Nonetheless, she couldnโt help but speculate that Sebastian might have had some suspicions that it was her.
Before long, the group had descended the stairs.
Right then, Adelar asked, โDo you need me to send you back?โ
Suddenly, Madelyn felt a wave of dizziness wash over her. She rubbed her temples and replied, โThereโs no hurry. Help me over to get some rest for a whileโฆโ
As she spoke, she extended her hand toward Adelar.
Given how strong Adelar was, it was no big deal for him to support a lady.
At some point, Madelynโs back had unknowingly become drenched in cold sweat. Now, she patted her chest, speaking with lingering fear, โI was so scared to death by what just happenedโฆโ
Those words threw Adelar and the others into utter disarray.
"Then why did you not look scared when you were acting as Morgana, seizing mines, telling people to get lost, and flirting with that man?"
However, the truth was that Madelyn was genuinely terrified.
Her apparent composure just a moment ago was nothing more than a facade, a result of her tightly strung nerves. Luckily, I have a hat to cover more than half of my face so that I could hide my expressions from others. Otherwise, I surely wonโt be able to keep a straight face. I almost blew my cover in front of Sebastian just nowโฆ.
Right then, she suddenly thought of Sebastianโs injured arm, and a pang of pain struck her heart.
After calming down, Madelyn hastily said to Adelar, โTake me back to the hotel! I must get there before they return.โ
โGot it.โ
At once, Adelar escorted her back the same way she came.
Meanwhile, Sebastian and the others were still upstairs, dealing with the aftermath.
seductress who lusts after men?โ
Harrietโs face turned sour when she heard this.
She was about to lend Sebastian a helping hand, but he casually pushed her away and nonchalantly said, โIโm fine. Letโs have someone else handle things here. We should head back first.โ
After speaking, he clutched his arm and headed downstairs.
However, at that very moment, as if an addiction kicked in, he couldnโt stop thinking about that scene that had just occurred.
From the moment Morgana entered, Sebastian felt an intense familiarity.
Her voice when she speaks, the way she carries herself as she walks, her smile, and even the feel of her lips all bear a striking resemblance to Madelyn! No, thereโs no way Iโd be mistaken. She must be Madelyn! But how is that possible? She has always been a naive young girl who didnโt understand the ways of the world and has no interest in the affairs of the underworld. How could she possibly know Morgana?
The more Sebastian thought about it, the more confused he became.
In the car, Wesley suggested. โSebastian, youโre injured. How about we go to the hospital to get your wound treated?โ
He was, however, rejected.
โIโm not going anywhere! Head back to the hotel as fast as you can!โ ordered Sebastian.
Left with no other choice, Wesley had to reach out to Malcolm, asking him to find a doctor so that they could tend to Sebastianโs wound immediately upon their return to the hotel.
At the hotel, when Sebastian returned, Madelyn had already changed back into her casual clothes, pacing around the lobby anxiously.
After sending Madelyn back, Grimo immediately left with everyone else, as if they had never been there in the first place.
At this time, upon seeing Sebastian injured, Madelyn immediately feigned shock and hurried over. โOh my goodness, Sebastian, youโre hurt!โ
Honestly, she was rather convincing with her act.
โMr. Lockhart.โ Malcolm hurried over with a doctor at this moment, and upon seeing Sebastian, he was stunned and quickly instructed the doctor, โHurry, tend to Mr. Lockhartโs wound!โ
Sebastian didnโt refuse. After returning to his room, he let the doctor take off his coat for examination.
โThankfully, the bullet only pierced the flesh without damaging any tendons or vein. Thereโs no need to worry,โ the doctor said after the examination.
Upon hearing this, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
Then came the bandaging of the wound.
His eyes were intently fixed on Madelyn, too.
Madelyn had already changed out of her disguise, her face bare and clean. Sebastian stared at her for a long time, but he couldnโt find any flaw.
Could it be that she really isnโt that Morgana from earlier?
Harriet, who witnessed this entire scene, found it unbearably hard to look at.
In Harrietโs view, Sebastian was gazing affectionately at Madelyn, his hand rightly clutching hers, seemingly unable to bear the thought of her leaving.
She let out a disdainful scoff. Iโm the one whoโs been through thick and thin with Sebastian! But what about Madelyn? How dare she reap the benefits of my efforts? Sheโs so shameless!
Unable to watch any longer, she turned and left.
Soon, Sebastianโs wound had been dressed.
The doctor and other uninvolved individuals left after that, leaving only Sebastian, Madelyn, and Wesley in the room.
โWere you at the hotel all afternoon?โ Sebastian asked with confusion.
Madelyn knew he would surely harbor doubts.
She put on an innocent act and nodded. โYeah, I did as you said, to stay in the hotel and go nowhere.โ
Hearing that, Sebastian couldnโt help but furrow his brows pensively.
If she really stayed in the hotel, then that Morgana couldnโt have been her.
Madelyn tucked him under the covers and gently said, โThatโs enough. You must be tired from being out the whole day, and youโre even injured. You should get some rest. Iโll stop bothering you.โ
She then turned back to look at Wesley. โLetโs head out.โ
Wesley nodded in agreement, and the two of them made their exit.
As Sebastian was indeed quite exhausted, he decided not to overthink things and simply closed his eyes to rest.
After stepping out of the room, Madelyn still felt somewhat worried, so she suggested for Wesley to leave first.
Wesley glanced at her, feeling a certain unease in his heart.
We nearly lost our lives just moments ago, but this woman has been spending her days either singing or resting, contributing nothing of value. Does she think sheโs here on vacation!
Upon that thought, he purposely spoke with a sour tone, โHey, are you curious about why Sebastian is injured?
his life for a woman before!โ
