Reborn to My Engagement Night

Chapter 195 Worth Befriending

After informing him, Madelyn went downstairs. As soon as she stepped out of the hotel, she saw a car parked about ten meters away. The carโ€™s hazard lights were flashing, and someone peeked their head out.

"Over here!"

Upon recognizing that the man was Adelar, Madelyn walked over briskly. She opened the car door and sat inside.

โ€œYouโ€™re here.โ€ The carโ€™s interior was dark, but Madelyn recognized Grimo through his voice.

โ€œDo you need something from me?" Madelyn decided to get straight to the point because she didnโ€™t want to be gone too long after telling Sebastian she was just going to buy a drink.

Upon hearing that, a mischievous smile played at the corners of Grimoโ€™s lips. โ€œIndeed, there is something I need from you.โ€

โ€œWhat is it? Just spit it out.โ€ Madelynโ€™s voice was rather stern.

Grimo thought to himself that Madelyn really had some nerve. There were very few people in the world who would speak to him so bluntly.

However, Grimo didnโ€™t make a fuss about it. He just replied, โ€œViolet has run off, and we canโ€™t find any information about her now. Do you have any intel that can help us track her down?โ€

To Grimoโ€™s surprise, Madelyn couldnโ€™t help but find it amusing when she heard that. โ€œDear, Violet is your subordinate, but she managed to escape right under your watch? And now youโ€™re asking me where she has gone? Who should I be asking then?โ€

She was implying that she couldnโ€™t possibly know Violetโ€™s whereabouts.

Yet, Grimo refused to believe it, countering, โ€œYou managed to impersonate Morgana, so youโ€™re clearly no ordinary individual. Your skills must be impressive too. Even though I donโ€™t know who you truly are, weโ€™ve done business before. You and I can be considered partners. Why not strike another deal with me?โ€

The moment Grimo said that, Madelyn immediately understood. After all that talk, was he trying to uncover her identity by using Violetโ€™s disappearance?

Realizing this, Madelyn couldnโ€™t help but laugh. With an apologetic tone, she said, โ€œGrimo, please donโ€™t mistake me for someone with extraordinary powers. You must have already investigated my background, right? As you found out, I, Madelyn, am just an ordinary rich girl, nothing more.โ€

โ€œOh?โ€ Grimo was clearly skeptical of her words. He wondered how it was possible for her to know that the instigator behind the arson of the arsenal was Violet if she claimed to have no identity.

โ€œAll right thenโ€ฆโ€ Madelyn rolled her eyes, thinking to herself how incredibly paranoid Grimo was. So, she simply said, โ€œIf you truly believe thereโ€™s something different about me, just think that I have some sort of special ability.โ€

โ€œWhat?โ€ Grimo was utterly bewildered.

Chapter 195 Worth Befriending

Grimo, completely clueless, shook his head. He had no idea what she was talking about.

However, Madelyn explained seriously, โ€œSpecial abilities refer to certain capabilities that are hard to articulate and define. Theyโ€™re difficult to explain, but these abilities are exceptionally fantastical and entirely beyond the realm of science. These abilities are innate.โ€

โ€œSo, youโ€™re saying that you knew Violet was the culprit simply because you have special abilities?โ€ Grimo finally seemed to grasp Madelynโ€™s point.

Madelyn instantly snapped her fingers. โ€œYouโ€™re smart!โ€

Suddenly, Grimo became agitated. โ€œAre you f*cking with me? Where on earth would such a thing exist? Do you think youโ€™re the protagonist of a mythical novel?โ€

This sudden outburst of anger truly startled Madelyn.

At that moment, Madelyn became furious too. โ€œFine, believe it or not, Iโ€™ve told you everything! Besides, this special ability is only incredibly effective at times. I canโ€™t just use it whenever I want to. I really donโ€™t know where Violet is, but I believe youโ€™ll find her if youโ€™re willing to look for her.โ€

Madelynโ€™s patience was wearing thin. โ€œI canโ€™t continue this conversation any longer. I have other matters to attend to. Goodbye.โ€

As soon as she finished speaking, Madelyn stepped out of the car. She then slammed the car door shut forcefully. Her slender figure disappeared into the distance.

At that moment, Adelar, who was seated in front, quickly asked, โ€œBoss, do you need me to stop her?โ€

Although Grimo was infuriated and was silently cursing her as a lunatic, he rationally waved his hand and said, โ€œDonโ€™t stop her.โ€

Recalling her words, Grimo still found it hard to believe her. However, upon careful consideration, there seemed to be no other explanation for her identity if things werenโ€™t as she said.

Suddenly, Grimo said, โ€œWait! Catch up with her and give her my contact information. Let her know that if she needs anything in the future, we can continue to collaborate.โ€

โ€œYes.โ€ Adelar nodded.

At that moment, Madelyn was drenched in cold sweat. She had just brazenly spun a tale in front of the formidable Grimo. Although she appeared calm and composed, she was extremely terrified on the inside.

However, after a moment, she thought that what she had said wasnโ€™t entirely implausible. After all, there were truly some metahumans in the world.

A reincarnating scenario that would usually only happen in novels had happened to her. If something like that could happen, what else was impossible?

Just as she was deep in thought, Adelar suddenly caught up with her and gave her a light pat on the back. โ€œMs. Thornton.โ€

Madelyn instantly felt a chill run through her body. She turned to look at Adelar, inquiring, โ€œWhatโ€™s wrong?โ€

Madelyn hesitated before accepting the business card. Eventually, she expressed her gratitude, saying, "Please convey my gratitude to him. If thereโ€™s another chance, I look forward to working together again.โ€

โ€œAll right.โ€ Adelar then turned around and went back.

As Madelyn stared at the business card in her hand, she couldnโ€™t help but think to herself that Grimo seemed to be someone worth befriending.

Then, Madelyn turned around and ascended the stairs.

Sebastian had already freshened up at that moment. He was only wearing a robe, his wellโ€“built chest partly exposed with a few glistening droplets of water still clinging to it.

Glancing at the several bottles of mineral water in Madelynโ€™s hand, Sebastian couldnโ€™t help but slightly furrow his brows. As he casually wiped his hair, he asked in a seemingly indifferent tone, โ€œWhat took you so long?โ€

Madelyn bit her lip in frustration before finally saying, โ€œI got a bit lost when I went out earlier, so I wandered around for a whileโ€ฆโ€

โ€œOh,โ€ Sebastian responded, then casually added, โ€œYouโ€™ve had a long day too. You should go take a shower.โ€

Madelyn obediently nodded and went into the bathroom.

Before long, the sound of the shower echoed from inside, bringing Sebastian a great deal of relief.

Just then, Sebastianโ€™s phone buzzed. He pulled it out and saw it was a new message.
