Chapter 260 When Will It End

The car came to a halt in front of a Japriumian restaurant.

The moment Madelyn stepped out of the car, she headed straight inside eagerly, as though it had been ages since she last had Japriumian cuisine.

Sebastian trailed behind her, worried that Madelyn might bump into someone and further exacerbate her wound.

Thankfully, Madelyn was cautious. She would try her best to steer clear of people, avoiding brushing shoulders with anyone. In doing so, she managed to prevent her wound from being touched.

Following that, the two of them ordered some Japriumian cuisine such as seafood and grilled fish among other things.

Madelyn excitedly said, โ€œSebastian, you wonโ€™t believe how delicious the food is here. I discovered it a few days ago while shopping with Jillian.โ€

Sebastian listened to her quietly, simply responding with a soft hum without saying much.

Before long, the dishes they had ordered were served.

Madelyn was overjoyed. She immediately picked up her knife and fork, ready to dig in with enthusiasm.

โ€œMm! This is truly delicious!โ€ After taking a bite, Madelyn was overwhelmed with happiness. โ€œThis is such good seafood!โ€

Sebastian observed her beaming face and merely smiled.

Seeing bits of fish at the corner of her lips, he reached out to wipe them off for her, his expression revealing a hint of affection.

Madelyn, filled with bliss, asked enthusiastically, โ€œBy the way, Sebastian, what do you think about collaborating with the Sherritt family?โ€

โ€œWhy are you suddenly asking this?โ€ Sebastian asked, a slight frown creasing his brow upon hearing her question.

โ€œOh, nothing. Iโ€™m just curious. After all, the Sherritt family is a major player in the business world. We wonโ€™t be at a loss if we collaborate with them,โ€ Madelyn said gleefully.

She seemed indifferent on the surface, but deep down, she was thinking about Scarletโ€™s words and started scheming.

Sebastian was unaware of her thoughts and asked in confusion, โ€œYou want me to collaborate with the Sherritt family?โ€

โ€œNot exactly,โ€ Madelyn said with a smile.

โ€œThen why are you asking about this?โ€ Sebastian asked.

Madelyn set her fork down, speaking earnestly. โ€œI simply think that a collaboration between the Sherritt family and Lockhart Group isnโ€™t a bad idea. After all, Lockhart Group is a titan in the financial world, and as a partnership, it could somewhat aid Lockhart Group in its future endeavors to diversify market development.โ€

As Sebastian listened to the analysis made by Madelyn, his serene face seemed to be lost in thought.

She does have a point.

โ€œHoweverโ€ฆโ€ At this moment, Madelyn suddenly paused. โ€œWhat Iโ€™m talking about isnโ€™t a collaboration with Janessa, but with the Sherritt family. Sebastian, these are two entirely different concepts. You must be sure to distinguish them clearly.โ€

Madelynโ€™s tone noticeably became stern as she said that.

Sebastian couldnโ€™t help but raise an eyebrow, puzzled.

She continued, โ€œSebastian, Iโ€™d indeed be intrigued if the Sherritt family and Lockhart Group were to collaborate. But as for Janessa, forget about it.โ€

After speaking, she picked up her fork and continued eating.

Observing her expression, Sebastian found it slightly odd. Madelyn usually never concerns herself with company matters. Why is she speaking in favor of the Sherritt family this time?

Instead of asking further, Sebastian simply responded with an indifferent tone, โ€œIโ€™ll consider it.โ€

Madelyn gave a slight nod, her expression returning to its usual cheerful demeanor as she responded, โ€œActually, whether you collaborate or not doesnโ€™t really matter. I was just offering a suggestion. If it doesnโ€™t work out, then we donโ€™t have to force a partnership. The companyโ€™s interests should still be the priority.โ€

Sebastian nodded, remaining silent.

After the meal, Madelyn found herself a bit too stuffed, so she suggested taking a walk before heading back.

Sebastian accompanied her. The two of them strolled along the path until they reached the riverbank. An evening breeze blew, carrying with it a chill that didnโ€™t belong to summer.

The wind rushed toward Madelyn, tousling her hair. She elegantly brushed her hair behind her ears, a picture of grace and tranquility. Under the dim streetlights, she was simply stunning.

Sebastian glanced at her, almost unable to tear his gaze away. He then forced himself to turn his attention back to the river.

The river was shrouded in darkness at night, illuminated only by the brilliant lights from afar, casting a shimmering reflection on the waterโ€™s surface.

โ€œSebastian, how long have we been engaged?โ€ Madelyn suddenly asked in a soft voice.

Perhaps it was because of the serene quietness of the night, or the warm ambiance under the soft, yellow light, but for a fleeting moment, Sebastian felt as if he was in a dream.

โ€œItโ€™s been nearly half a year,โ€ Sebastian responded. His voice carried an innate charm, deep and resonant.

Hearing that, Madelyn pondered for a moment. Time sure flies.

Then, she found herself drawing closer to Sebastian. โ€œSo, when are we getting married?โ€ she asked.

Sebastian was taken aback for a moment, clearly not expecting Madelyn to ask such a question.

To be precise, he had never even expected that she would agree to marry him. An indescribable emotion suddenly welled up in his heart.

On the other hand, Madelyn smiled gracefully. โ€œNo worries. Take your time to think. Thereโ€™s no rush. After all, we still have a long, long journey ahead of us.โ€

Sebastian simply nodded in response.

However, in the next moment, his warm and dry palm was suddenly grasped by a delicate and soft hand. The tender touch transmitted through his palmโ€“straight to his heart, causing him to freeze. He was in a daze, as if he could hardly believe the warmth he felt in his hand was real.

Madelyn, however, beamed. When Sebastian didnโ€™t resist, she tightened her grip on his hand.

After the surprise wore off, Sebastian swiftly accepted the sensation and relaxed.

A subtle smile tugged at the corner of his lips as he let her lead the way. Just like that, the two of them walked ahead and journeyed a great distance through the night.

The following day, the sunshine was splendid.

After finishing breakfast, Sebastian dropped off Madelyn at school before heading back to the company.

As soon as he arrived at the office, Malcolm came in to report. โ€œGood morning, Mr. Lockhart. I received a message from the police last night. The thug who cut the stage light in the surveillance video, causing Mrs. Lockhart to get injured, has been apprehended.โ€

Sebastian raised an eyebrow, โ€œDid they get any information out of him?โ€

Malcolm hung his head in regret. โ€œIโ€™m sorry, but we havenโ€™t been able to get anything out of him. I donโ€™t know what had gotten into him, but he remained tight-lipped no matter what. Despite the severe interrogation, he simply refused to speak.โ€

โ€œIs that so?โ€ Sebastianโ€™s brows furrowed instantly, his expression stern. โ€œHe must have been paid handsomely, so he dared not betray his employer.โ€

โ€œYouโ€™re right. That should be the case,โ€ said Malcolm, cautiously raising his head to look at Sebastian. โ€œSo, what do you plan to do?โ€

Sebastian stood up without hesitation, his imposing aura bursting forth in an instant. โ€œLetโ€™s go and see for ourselves.โ€

After he finished speaking, he strode out right away.

Inspired by his boss' aura, Malcolm stood up straight and quickened his pace to keep up.
