Chapter 313: Dote On Her

Meanwhile, Lindsay was terrified, her body trembling. Revenge is a dish best served cold. Seeing they were outmatched, Eric shouted, "Let's get out of here!"

As soon as the words fell, the terrified men scrambled to their feet, eager to escape. However, they weren't about to get away so easily. Sirens wailed in the distance, growing louder. Shortly after, police officers arrived, promptly handcuffing the men. Lindsay was also escorted into a police car.

As everything ended, Madelyn breathed a sigh of relief. With a look of confusion, she turned to the men in black. "Who are you?"

One of the men replied, "Mrs. Lockhart, we were secretly sent by Mr. Lockhart to follow and protect you."

In reality, Sebastian worried about Madelyn encountering trouble. For the past few days, he had discreetly arranged for people to stay near her, protecting her when she was alone.

A wave of warmth washed over Madelyn's heart. Unexpectedly, Sebastian had arranged for her protection. Although his demeanor is aloof, it's clear he cares. Madelyn smiled sweetly.

Suddenly, the men in black bowed. "Mr. Lockhart."

Mr. Lockhart? Madelyn was stunned before noticing Sebastian approaching with an air of grace. "Are you all right?" His voice was cold, yet his tone conveyed undeniable concern.

In reality, one of the men had informed Sebastian, who immediately rushed over. Madelyn stared blankly at him. Sebastian rolled up her sleeve, inspecting her arm. Once he confirmed only minor scrapes, he breathed a sigh of relief. He gently took her hand. "Let's go home."

Years later, recalling those words, Madelyn still felt an unprecedented sense of comfort. Of course, that's a story for another time.

As for Lindsay, she and Eric were taken to the police station. Given it was her first offense and Eric insisted she was uninvolved, the police released her after a few hours. Eric, however, with past criminal records and recent involvement in a robbery, was sentenced to two years in prison.

Upon learning the news, Lindsay stood at the police station entrance, her heart sinking. Eric's predicament must have something to do with Madelyn! However, Lindsay hadn't anticipated Madelyn's strength. Had she known, she wouldn't have provoked her. Regret was of no use.

Upon returning to Lockhart Villa, Sebastian instructed Madelyn to sit on the couch before fetching a first aid kit. "Sebastian, I'm fine. You don't have to do this," Madelyn reassured him, thinking it was just a minor scrape.

Sebastian glared at her and ordered coldly, "Sit still and don't move." Madelyn complied. Sebastian lifted her sleeve, disinfected the area, applied ointment, and covered it with bandages. He moved gently and cautiously.

A sweet smile bloomed on Madelyn's lips as her face flushed with happiness. Sebastian, having finished tending to the wounds, noticed her smile and was puzzled. "What are you smiling at?"

"It's nothing," Madelyn shook her head, her smile widening. "This silly girlโ€ฆ" Sebastian sighed, shaking his head. He packed away the kit and went into the kitchen.

Considering neither had eaten dinner, Sebastian decided to cook. Madelyn was puzzled when she heard the stove ignite.

Sebastian, tall and slender, stood before the pot like a professional chef, carefully adding seasonings. He appeared composed and gentle. Madelyn was utterly captivated. Goodness. He's perfect!

However, after calming down, Madelyn realized it wasn't appropriate for a CEO like Sebastian to cook. With that thought, Madelyn entered the kitchen. "Sebastian, maybe I should handle this."

"Leave," Sebastian said nonchalantly. "I've got this." Madelyn wanted to say something else, but Sebastian's chilling glance silenced her. She had no choice but to leave and sit in the living room.

Soon, a fragrant aroma wafted through the air. Sebastian brought out creamy tomato soup, pan-seared salmon, and stir-fried vegetables. Madelyn was stunned. The dishes were more appealing than those made by professional chefs.

"Sebastian, when did you learn to cook?" Madelyn asked. To her surprise, Sebastian replied casually, "I've never learned, just winging it."

Madelyn was stunned. She thought no one was perfect. Why was this man so impressive in every aspect? Sebastian served her salmon. "Let's eat."

Madelyn nodded and took a bite. The delicious taste almost moved her to tears. "Sebastian, how are you so wonderful?" Madelyn felt an inexplicable wave of emotion.

In this world, aside from her father, she reckoned only one other person would care for, look after, and protect her without reason.

"You're my wife. Who else should I treat well if not you?" Sebastian responded, his expression unchanging.

Madelyn was taken aback. Sebastian noticed her dazed expression. Unable to suppress a smile, he ruffled her hair. "Good girl, let's eat." Madelyn nodded.
