Chapter 321: You Are Injured
Tristan chuckled. โYou know what it means, buddy.โ
Josiah reluctantly pouted. He had no choice but to tag along. Now that Tristan was interested in that girl, he, as Tristan's buddy, had to step up as his wingman.
Before long, the taxi stopped in front of a prestigious residential complex. Madelyn hadnโt seen Fiona in quite some time, so she decided to bring her some gifts.
As they approached Fionaโs apartment, they heard a heated argument from inside. They could hear Fiona pleading desperately, โGentlemen, please, I beg you not to trouble me anymore. I really donโt have any moneyโฆโ
A sense of urgency gripped them, prompting them to rush inside immediately. Oh, no! A group of men, dressed like thugs, loudly berated Fiona. โB*tch, donโt make us do things the hard way!โ
One of them grabbed Fiona by the hair and ruthlessly shoved her aside. Caught off guard, Fiona fell to the ground, her head hitting the corner of a table. Blood immediately seeped from the wound.
โMom!โ Jillian rushed to help her. โMom, are you okay?โ
Fiona shook her head calmly. โIโm fine.โ
A few thugs continued speaking rudely. โIsnโt she your precious daughter? Great. Pay us back our money!โ
Seething with anger, Jillian retorted, โGo find the person who borrowed money from you. We donโt have any money!โ
โNo money? You think weโre fools? Stop lying!โ The ruffians pointed accusatorily at the furniture. โYou two claim to be broke yet you live in such an upscale neighborhood. The furniture here is worth tens of thousands. Do you really think we donโt know what luxury means? If you want to avoid trouble, settle the debt your brother owes me, and we can resolve this. But if you keep testing our patience, donโt blame us for what might happen to you!โ
Clearly, the trouble was caused by Jillianโs brother. Jillian cursed inwardly. Itโs that bastard again.
โButโฆโ The leader chuckled, his gaze on Jillian filled with lewd intentions. โIf you really have no money, itโs okay. We can sell you off to clear your debt!โ
He nodded, signaling the thugs to move in. They seized Jillianโs arm and forcefully pulled her away from Fiona.
โLet me go! Let me go!โ Jillian resisted desperately.
Meanwhile, Tristan, witnessing the scene, was instantly filled with rage. How dare these scumbags lay their hands on Jillian! With a swift move, he darted toward the men, unleashing a flurry of powerful kicks. The sudden strike caught the thugs off guard, sending them tumbling backward.
Jillian hurried back to her mother, holding her tightly. A chaotic brawl erupted between Tristan and the thugs. Although Tristan didnโt come from a military family, his complex background had given him myriad combat skills. However, these hooligans were armed with various weapons.
As he fought, Tristan had to dodge their attacks, making the fight increasingly strenuous. Suddenly, a thug lunged at Jillian from the shadows, brandishing a knife.
โJillian!โ Madelyn, panicked, sprinted forward and intercepted the blade. She swiftly seized the thugโs arm, twisting it harshly. The knife slipped from his grasp, unintentionally slashing across Madelynโs wrist.
โMadelyn!โ Jillian cried. โYouโre injured!โ
Madelyn casually glanced at the wound. โItโs just a minor wound,โ she said calmly. โYou and Mrs. Lynch should stay away from the fight.โ
Jillian nodded, leading Fiona to safety. Once they were safely away, Madelyn decided to join the fight. Watching Tristan struggle, she clenched her fists and exclaimed, โTristan, Iโm coming!โ She plunged into the crowd.
Josiah, initially watching, also joined the brawl. In an instant, a full-scale fight ensued. Tristan expertly used his legs, knocking people over. Josiahโs movements were swift and precise, rendering his opponents defenseless. The assailant doubled over in pain, unable to regain their stance.
Yet, the thugs were formidable opponents, swinging their weapons with ferocity. Inevitably, the trio sustained minor injuries. Fortunately, they eventually managed to incapacitate the thugs, leaving them bruised and in pain.
โWho are you people?โ The gang leader, surprised by their skills, inquired about their identities.
Suddenly, sirens wailed from below.
โBoss, the cops are here!โ A thug alerted the leader.
Fear gripped the leader. โLetโs get out of here now!โ The group scattered, sprinting toward the exit.
The police arrived swiftly, pursuing the fleeing perpetrators. Jillian breathed a sigh of relief. โMom, Madelyn, you both are injured. Letโs get to the hospital right away.โ
Everyone agreed and hurried to the hospital. The doctor tended to Madelynโs wounds. Even Madelyn gasped in pain as the alcohol stung during disinfection. She cursed, โDamn it, I was supposed to bake cookies but ended up in the hospital. What terrible luck!โ
A wave of guilt washed over Jillian. She apologized softly, โIโm so sorry. If I hadnโt invited you to my place, you wouldnโt have had to deal with this.โ
Madelyn waved her hand carelessly. โJillian, donโt blame yourself. Itโs not your faultโฆโ
โI just canโt figure it out,โ she said, โhow did those thugs manage to get into that residential complex? Itโs supposed to be secure; the guards wouldnโt normally let anyone in so casually.โ
