Chapter 321: You Are Injured

Tristan chuckled. โ€œYou know what it means, buddy.โ€

Josiah reluctantly pouted. He had no choice but to tag along. Now that Tristan was interested in that girl, he, as Tristan's buddy, had to step up as his wingman.

Before long, the taxi stopped in front of a prestigious residential complex. Madelyn hadnโ€™t seen Fiona in quite some time, so she decided to bring her some gifts.

As they approached Fionaโ€™s apartment, they heard a heated argument from inside. They could hear Fiona pleading desperately, โ€œGentlemen, please, I beg you not to trouble me anymore. I really donโ€™t have any moneyโ€ฆโ€

A sense of urgency gripped them, prompting them to rush inside immediately. Oh, no! A group of men, dressed like thugs, loudly berated Fiona. โ€œB*tch, donโ€™t make us do things the hard way!โ€

One of them grabbed Fiona by the hair and ruthlessly shoved her aside. Caught off guard, Fiona fell to the ground, her head hitting the corner of a table. Blood immediately seeped from the wound.

โ€œMom!โ€ Jillian rushed to help her. โ€œMom, are you okay?โ€

Fiona shook her head calmly. โ€œIโ€™m fine.โ€

A few thugs continued speaking rudely. โ€œIsnโ€™t she your precious daughter? Great. Pay us back our money!โ€

Seething with anger, Jillian retorted, โ€œGo find the person who borrowed money from you. We donโ€™t have any money!โ€

โ€œNo money? You think weโ€™re fools? Stop lying!โ€ The ruffians pointed accusatorily at the furniture. โ€œYou two claim to be broke yet you live in such an upscale neighborhood. The furniture here is worth tens of thousands. Do you really think we donโ€™t know what luxury means? If you want to avoid trouble, settle the debt your brother owes me, and we can resolve this. But if you keep testing our patience, donโ€™t blame us for what might happen to you!โ€

Clearly, the trouble was caused by Jillianโ€™s brother. Jillian cursed inwardly. Itโ€™s that bastard again.

โ€œButโ€ฆโ€ The leader chuckled, his gaze on Jillian filled with lewd intentions. โ€œIf you really have no money, itโ€™s okay. We can sell you off to clear your debt!โ€

He nodded, signaling the thugs to move in. They seized Jillianโ€™s arm and forcefully pulled her away from Fiona.

โ€œLet me go! Let me go!โ€ Jillian resisted desperately.

Meanwhile, Tristan, witnessing the scene, was instantly filled with rage. How dare these scumbags lay their hands on Jillian! With a swift move, he darted toward the men, unleashing a flurry of powerful kicks. The sudden strike caught the thugs off guard, sending them tumbling backward.

Jillian hurried back to her mother, holding her tightly. A chaotic brawl erupted between Tristan and the thugs. Although Tristan didnโ€™t come from a military family, his complex background had given him myriad combat skills. However, these hooligans were armed with various weapons.

As he fought, Tristan had to dodge their attacks, making the fight increasingly strenuous. Suddenly, a thug lunged at Jillian from the shadows, brandishing a knife.

โ€œJillian!โ€ Madelyn, panicked, sprinted forward and intercepted the blade. She swiftly seized the thugโ€™s arm, twisting it harshly. The knife slipped from his grasp, unintentionally slashing across Madelynโ€™s wrist.

โ€œMadelyn!โ€ Jillian cried. โ€œYouโ€™re injured!โ€

Madelyn casually glanced at the wound. โ€œItโ€™s just a minor wound,โ€ she said calmly. โ€œYou and Mrs. Lynch should stay away from the fight.โ€

Jillian nodded, leading Fiona to safety. Once they were safely away, Madelyn decided to join the fight. Watching Tristan struggle, she clenched her fists and exclaimed, โ€œTristan, Iโ€™m coming!โ€ She plunged into the crowd.

Josiah, initially watching, also joined the brawl. In an instant, a full-scale fight ensued. Tristan expertly used his legs, knocking people over. Josiahโ€™s movements were swift and precise, rendering his opponents defenseless. The assailant doubled over in pain, unable to regain their stance.

Yet, the thugs were formidable opponents, swinging their weapons with ferocity. Inevitably, the trio sustained minor injuries. Fortunately, they eventually managed to incapacitate the thugs, leaving them bruised and in pain.

โ€œWho are you people?โ€ The gang leader, surprised by their skills, inquired about their identities.

Suddenly, sirens wailed from below.

โ€œBoss, the cops are here!โ€ A thug alerted the leader.

Fear gripped the leader. โ€œLetโ€™s get out of here now!โ€ The group scattered, sprinting toward the exit.

The police arrived swiftly, pursuing the fleeing perpetrators. Jillian breathed a sigh of relief. โ€œMom, Madelyn, you both are injured. Letโ€™s get to the hospital right away.โ€

Everyone agreed and hurried to the hospital. The doctor tended to Madelynโ€™s wounds. Even Madelyn gasped in pain as the alcohol stung during disinfection. She cursed, โ€œDamn it, I was supposed to bake cookies but ended up in the hospital. What terrible luck!โ€

A wave of guilt washed over Jillian. She apologized softly, โ€œIโ€™m so sorry. If I hadnโ€™t invited you to my place, you wouldnโ€™t have had to deal with this.โ€

Madelyn waved her hand carelessly. โ€œJillian, donโ€™t blame yourself. Itโ€™s not your faultโ€ฆโ€

โ€œI just canโ€™t figure it out,โ€ she said, โ€œhow did those thugs manage to get into that residential complex? Itโ€™s supposed to be secure; the guards wouldnโ€™t normally let anyone in so casually.โ€
