Chapter 322: Are You Done?
โThose individuals had sneaked in undetected,โ someone stated.
Tristan and Josiah approached. โThey all scaled the wall and escaped earlier, but one has been apprehended by the police. The police will handle the rest.โ
โThatโs a relief,โ Madelyn breathed, sighing. She turned to Fiona and Jillian. โMrs. Lynch, youโre injured; rest at the hospital. Jillian, stay here to care for your mother and rest yourself. Tristan, keep an eye on them. Donโt let anyone exploit another opening.โ
Tristan nodded earnestly. โDonโt worry, I will.โ He glanced at Jillian, his eyes filled with affection.
Madelyn chuckled. โItโs getting late,โ she said. โJosiah and I will head back. Mrs. Lynch, weโll visit tomorrow.โ
โAll right, thank you,โ Fiona replied gratefully.
Madelyn and Josiah left the ward. In the lobby, Josiah slapped his forehead. โOh right, I forgot your medicine!โ
โIโll get it,โ Madelyn said, starting to leave.
Josiah stopped her. โForget it,โ he said. โYouโve hurt your hand. Let me do it. Wait for me by the entrance.โ
โAll right,โ Madelyn nodded, heading to the entrance to wait.
A brand-new black Maybach pulled up. The driver opened the backseat door, and Sebastian emerged. Their eyes met. Despite being apart only a day, it felt like a century. Madelyn opened her mouth to speak, but another stunning woman stepped outโHarrier.
Stunned, Madelyn froze. Isnโt Harriet abroad? When did she return? Why are they together?
Harrier also spotted Madelyn. Her face faltered momentarily, then she recovered, laughing. โMs. Thornton, itโs been a while, hasnโt it?โ
Madelyn hummed coldly, turning to Sebastian. โWhy are you here?โ
Sebastianโs face remained expressionless. Before he could speak, Harrier interrupted, chuckling. โMs. Thornton, shouldn't we be asking you that? How did you end up here?โ
Madelyn scoffed. โWhy does it matter to you?โ Her arrogance clearly showed her disdain for the conversation.
Harrierโs smile vanished, replaced by frustration. โMs. Thornton, I presume youโre here to see Christopher, arenโt you?โ
What? Madelyn was baffled. โHarriet, are you out of your mind? What business is it of mine to meddle with Christopherโs affairs?โ
Harriet was blunt. โStop pretending! Everyone knows youโve always had a soft spot for Christopher. Now that heโs here recovering, isnโt it obvious you came to see him?โ
After speaking, Harriet amusingly shook her head, taunting Madelyn. โMs. Thornton, forgive my bluntness, but donโt you think youโre being a bit much? You were so adamant about having Sebastian all to yourself before, I suppose even you believed those insincere promises, didnโt you? But now? Youโve shot yourself in the foot. Was it really necessary? Youโve played the innocent for so long, nearly fooling us all. But the moment Christopher appeared, you cast Sebastian aside. Your love for Christopher, itโs truly admirable!โ
โHarriet, what nonsense are you spouting?โ Madelyn laughed. โWith such a creative imagination, why arenโt you a scriptwriter? Working at Lockhart Group seems quite limiting for your talent!โ
Madelynโs hospital visit was due to a fight injury, nothing to do with Christopher. She was completely unaware he was even in the hospital.
However, Harriet laughed wildly, disdain in her eyes. Madelynโs amusement grew, leaving her speechless. This Harriet, she really has a knack for painting others in a bad light!
But Madelyn wouldnโt be pushed around. โMs. Moore, I honestly have no idea what youโre talking about, but I assure you with my integrity, I didnโt come here for Christopher; I didnโt even know he was here. Please open your eyes and clear your mind. Get your facts straight before you speak, okay?โ
Madelyn rolled her eyes, not bothering to hide her impoliteness.
โOh? Is that so?โ Harriet chuckled, unconvinced.
Sebastian, losing interest, interrupted coldly. โThereโs nothing more to discuss, Harriet, letโs go.โ
โAll right,โ Harriet conceded, falling silent. She paced herself to match Sebastianโs stride as they walked into the hospital.
Watching them leave, Madelyn felt a sharp pain. Suddenly, she rushed forward, clutching Sebastianโs clothing, her gaze unwavering. โSebastian, even you donโt believe me?โ she questioned, disbelief lacing her words. If even he doesnโt believe me, then there really isnโt much left to say.
Their eyes met. Sebastian seemed to notice her sincerity.
Harriet, losing her temper, forcefully pushed Madelyn away. โMadelyn, enough already. How much longer are you planning to keep up this charade?โ
Madelyn grunted; Harriet had pushed her injured side. Madelyn ignored the pain, her gaze fixed on Sebastian, stubbornly waiting for his answer.
From a distance, Josiah saw Madelyn being shoved; his expression soured. He strode over and pushed Harriet forcefully. โWhat are you doing?โ
Harriet stumbled backward, nearly falling.
